tbh I don't think my dad hung out with many ex-PAF pilots in Qatar, mostly engineers and some technicians. But he is friends with a very senior ex-PAF C-130 pilot, I think almost all PAF people in Qatar know of the C-130 officer. It's as if he's been with the QEAF from the day the QEAF was founded!

Thanks for a prompt reply. Do you have any Info on any upgrading apart from overhaul. How many birds are there for the overhaul. Any specific information about how many engine hrs or flight hours were done before this overhaul.

As @HRK mentioned, the facility is an additional one to create capacity for servicing the aircraft. Kamra is currently overburdened with production and development of the platform and the second facility to service and overhaul the JF-17 is in backburner. China has excess personnel and funds capacity to set up the facility and has done so.
So while it is a longer trip as such to fly the aircraft to this facility, it is a fix to allow the older aircraft nearing their timeframe to allow operations to continue and not have aircraft sit in backlog waiting for overhaul.
