JF-17 Thunder Block-II - A Beast in making.

I don't see major sales for this until it's combat proven and gains a good image, China not acquiring them doesn't give the good image for the average person and perhaps defense ministers. This is why countries rather buy Block 40/50 F-16's or Mig 29s.

Maybe they should participate in red flag with Jf-17s

I am more pumped up for the new engine , and hopefully we get Transfer of technology on that New Engine so we can make 80-100% engine at home.

The improved engine would really be something as the plane's payload capacity will go sky high !!!

well specs about weapons that Pakistan posses are always not correct.underrated as we all think jf-17 is 1.6 mach but its not true its greater than 2.0 Mach

The N011M Bars radar on the MKI is stated by the vendor to detect a 5m2 target at 140 KM
If this figure of 130 KM for 5m2 target for KLJ-7v2 of the JF-17-Block2 is true, then ...

Assuming MKI has an RCS of 10.m2 and JF-17 an RCS of 3m2 clean

In a very generically assumed, over simplified and somewhat empirical terms ...

MKI will detect a JF-17 at a range R = [(3/5)^0.25] * 140 = 123.22 KM
JF-17 Block-2 will detect an MKI at a range R = [(10/5)^0.25] * 130 = 154.57 KM

Hmm ... this is quite questionable as it even exceeds the performance of APG-68v9 for the F-16 Block-52+.
Especially so when the radome aperture/space on JF-17 Block-2 is the same as Block-1 and it is less than that of the Viper. This means a smaller and less powerful radar than the Viper's radar is providing better detection ranges is a quantum leap of Chinese technology over US technology. Lets hold off on this for now.

I will tend to stick with the current figure of 105Km for KLJ-7v1 for Block-1

JF-17 Block-1 will detect an MKI at a range R = [(10/5)^0.25] * 105 = 124.87 KM
