JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

I don't understand how you able to restrict yourself with WS13 and not go for WS19 :super:

Would China offer the WS-19 ? Can the JF17 airframe handle a new engine with ~20% increase in thrust without airframe changes and associated FBW changes ?

The current Block III is most lilely the definitive final version of the plane, with the focus turning to procuring a stealth plane I suspect. Commerically it has not sold that many outside of the PAF and the transition to Stealh becoming the focus of most serious air arms now. It took PAF and China too long to get to the Block III variant, which has affected its commerical opportunities as that would have been the variant that most were interested had - had they got their 5 years ago.

WS-19 is their latest and most likely destined for their J-35 series of jets with their initial production runs.

Hi,

Unless it is designed from begining---there is no airframe or any frame in the world that can take a 20% increase in power just like that---.

They would all need strengthening. The mounts and the relative frame would need to be strengthened---alongwith the wings and wing roots

Yep. And for j-20 taking ws-15 which has we can guess around 20% more thrust than ws-10c, it is because j-20 was always designed for intended engine thrust of ws-15.

Jf-17 is going to stick with ws-13 or rd33 variant engines.

No need to rush for technologies in development
1-KLJ-7A AESA is good enough
2-PL-15 and PL-10 are decent enough A2A
3-Engine needs an upgrade for sure as JF-17's airial performance is still considered not as good as its ground role.
4- A nose mounted IRST should be a standard on JF-17s

JF-17C is performing exceptionally well in the ongoing Indus Shield 2023 especially due to its AESA radar. No 16 "Black Panther" are flying their Block-III in the exercise!

How many JF17 block 3 does PAF have?
