Jerusalem court releases name of Israeli guard who shot Jewish man at Western Wall
The security guard who killed Doron Ben-Shloosh is Hadi Kablan, a former Border Patrol officer, from the Druze village Beit Jann.

The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court has released the name of the security guard who shot and killed Doron Ben-Shloosh last Friday at the Western Wall Plaza. The security guard is Hadi Kablan, a former Border Patrol officer, from the Druze village Beit Jann. The court extended Kablan's remand until Sunday, he faces possible murder charges.

During the hearing on Tuesday, it was revealed that the two men had an encounter prior to the shooting. During the investigation, Kablan admitted that he had met Ben-Shloosh before the shooting, and the two had an argument. Ben-Shloosh apparently cursed Kablan, due to his Druze ethnicity.

In the court ruling, Judge Dana Cohen-Lekach wrote: "In short, the respondent confirmed that he saw the victim that same morning, and they had a discussion, during which he cursed. The respondent relayed his side of the story regarding the shooting incident. His testimony must be considered, in light of information already collected, and yet to be collected during the investigation."

Ben-Shloosh was shot to death on Friday morning, near the bathrooms adjacent to the Western Wall plaza. Ben-Shloosh was well-known to Western Wall staff, and others in Jerusalem's Old City. He volunteered and lived off of a Chabad soup kitchen in the Jewish Quarter.

David Dahan, who witnessed the incident, was with Ben-Shloosh just seconds before he was shot. “This was a guy who volunteered at the Chabad soup kitchen located above the Wall. He used to prepare the meals there,” said Dahan. “Everyone there knew him – the cops, security guards, the regular worshippers. He had long hair and did not wear a kippa. He was burdened with some heavy loads.

"I finished my prayers this morning and was having coffee on the plaza across from the Wall. He came to sit beside me holding a newspaper. He started leafing through it, looking for an article about the Mossad. He then started cursing the Mossad. Just then a police officer passed by, but since everyone knew him no one took him seriously."

Dahan described Ben-Shloosh as “possessed by internal turmoil."

"He got up to go to the bathroom, 20 meters away. All of a sudden I heard gunfire, about seven to 10 shots. Everyone was in shock. Then the policemen started running in that direction."

According to Dahan, who works as the coordinator of social organizations at the Knesset, the victim suffered a lot from being homeless. “He was a verbally aggressive man, but he thought that everyone understood that that's him."

Kablan's lawyer, Kamal Kamal, said that Kablan acted in self-defense, and in defense of the public whom he was protecting, and that Ben-Shloosh yelled "Allah akbar" at the moment he was shot, prompting Kablan to believe he was a terrorist.

Well this may turn out to be a case totally different from the one reported earlier.

b. Gaurd who killed him, was verbally abused earlier in the day by the dead guy.




Allah Akbar slogan doesn't seem to be part of the deal anymore.


It simply looks like a case that teaches all of us a lesson.
