Japanese style democracy for Asia

In what sense?

Democracy has multiple forms, and as such it has the ability to improve , adapt, self-regulate, self-rehabilitate. If it is to thrive and endure through the instability of an environment, as well as uncertainties, it must be supported through citizenship education. Second, it requires transparency, in regards to the accountability of elected officials and public officials. There should be support of the public media , as well as the support of a judiciary that is independent of the powers of the executive and legislature. In order for a democracy to thrive, it must adapt to the local culture, considerate of the religious as well as social constructs of the land. Due to the cultural difference in societies in East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia to say Europe , and the Americas, one will see unique qualities of the democracies in say Europe , how it is practiced there, how it is regulated to other societies that practice democracy. There is no such thing as a one size fits all system, and it should not be forced upon a society because of the unique traits in said society. Even in Europe, there are different types of democracies practiced, ranging from the Republican form seen in France, or to the constitutional monarchies seen in Holland, the UK, Sweden, Norway, Spain and the like.

In my opinion to this thread, with a flip of the hand.

But first, they would need to fully understand and know the pros and cons of this system, since China may be paranoid with foreign assistants. They should put it to practice first...say in Hong Kong. :D

With China's current wealth, power, organization skills and with patience, which is already a Chinese trait, a transition to democracy, if they choose to, would probably be smooth.

Fighting corruption and nepotism is another issue.

Hey @vietnamese_sausage, this ClassicMan sounds like a non-vietnamese pretending to be a Vietnamese. He talks and has a mentality like he is currently living in a democracy.

Can you confirm that he is a fake Vietnamese with a foreign mentality? also can you tell us what a real typical Vietnamese mentality is like? thanks.

You mean to say conservative democracy. Most Eastern countries are conservative democracy whereas Western countries tend to follow liberal demoncracy...democracy and forget their culture and tradition.

A major element of Western democracies is that safeguards are put in place in order to prevent a "tyranny of the majority". A leader who is popular with the vast majority of his citizens could use this popularity to ruthlessly clamp down on the small minority who oppose him.

We are talking here about culture and traditions. Look at England, 50 years back the country had a good heritage but now your tradition is being a bunch of horny, slutty people, parading around the street in nakedness.

That's a pretty venomous declaration. One could just as easily categorise Bangladesh as a country of beggars and bombers.

How to choose between tyranny of the majority and minority dictatorship ?

I dont know what is the problem with you guys? You think your culture is on top, and all around the world, people are uncultured.

You are cultured na, then be remain happy, what is problem of yours, if Britain become uncultured or cultured.

BTW, Culture is also dynamic, it is not static. 1000 years ago culture cant be the same as modern world. But I know, you would dont understand.

An independent judicial system that is centered not only on constitutional law , but also one that focuses on the bill of rights regarding persons living in said country. This is imperative in that the judicial system will make sure that any legislative or executive promulgation must be constitutional. If not, then the Judicial System can declare it unconstitutional , and thus require amending. Thus there are checks and balances in government and no branch has unchecked powers.

We have the center of East Asia, while they can keep worshipping their Emperor on that little island.
