Japanese automobile manufacturers in Pakistan expect regulatory support from the government of Pakistan, the Country Director of Japan External Trade Organisation JETRO in Pakistan, Shiraishi said on Thursday.
Japanese brands and companies will further explore the Pakistani market through participation and promotion at the 7th Expo Pakistan Exhibition in October 2012.
An exclusive pavilion is being set-up at the Expo Centre in Karachi, inspired by the JETRO, which enjoys the cooperation of numerous prominent Japanese companies operating across various industrial and commercial sectors of Pakistan.
Prominent sectors that have attracted Japanese investments and entrepreneurs include automobiles, engineering, consumer items etc.
The key participants from Japan this year will be Toyota, Honda, Suzuki and Hino, displaying the latest models of their most popular cars, coaster and truck in Pakistan.
On matters relating to a comprehensive and stable regulatory policy for import of used cars into Pakistan, they seek a new-entrant policy in this industry to create a level playing field for all players, he added.
Strictly enforced controls over smuggled auto parts and a policy to discourage under-invoicing of spare parts and grey channel imports is vital.
He expressed his confidence in the robust growth opportunities offered by the Pakistan markets and consumers, who continue to seek and patronise higher quality products from progressive and innovative companies.
The exhibitors are enthusiastic about directly interacting with their customers and gaining more insight on their evolving needs and preferences. Japanese automobile and technology companies have successfully operated in Pakistan over the past many decades. This reflects the contributions of Japanese enterprises in the development of Pakistan, through the creation of employment opportunities, technology transfers, innovative products and industrial best practices.
Setting up the Japan Pavilion at the 7th Expo Pakistan event will serve as a highly effective platform to showcase the innovations and developments achieved recently.
There are approximately more than 68 Japanese/Japanese affiliated companies in the Pakistani market, who are offering numerous global brands with outstanding performance traits.
