Japan can't outgun China's J-20 with F-35A purchase

:) Funny farticle, the F-35 is at the pinnacle of fighter technology. Silly for anyone to under estimate it. DAS alone will pick up J-20 being readied for take-off from hundred of miles. F-35 features the world's most advanced set of sensors ever fitted on any aircraft, combined with the most extensive threat library. Its sensors have such long range abilities than standard test ranges are falling short and testing has had to happen in extensive military flight zones which allows for hundreds of miles of play ground. The J-20 has more than a match when facing the Su-30MKI alone. MKI with OLS will detect this puppy well over 80 km away. J-20 is not stealthy, its at best LO, it will be an accomplishment if it has the RCS of a clean LCA tejas.

US should have developed YF-23 as an export product for its tier-1 allies.

No way. I agree with what saishkumar said.

It's all about money allocation.
Northrop won the B2 contract so they basically could not win the YF23 contract.

It's pretty clear they will have their hands in the 6th gen stuff.
(But it might be just a new bomber)

Err no - J-20 is more stealthy.
When in level flight at far off ranges the canards will hardly move and so stealth will not be affected.

No matter how much you upgrade the F-35 it's airframe and single engine limitation will remain.
Err..yes.Every single indentation, every minor edge accounts for a increase of RCS in a aircraft. This difference is often ignored in <5th gen aircrafts owing to its already sizeable RCS and aerodynamic advantages offered by canards and LERX.But in 5th gen, stealth is made by a compromise in manuverability.
J20 has a larger and deeper weapon bay. Which not only means more payload but also more weapon systems can be chosen to utilize. Like ASM etc
Hence my statement that J20 enjoys advantage in payload.

when US started the F35 project, they never dreamed of the existence of J20, it is a misconcepted product at the begging. now they have to resort to hard bragging to convince their partners that it is a good fighter.

On the contray, tthe development of J20 begin with the purpose of target f22, it will shoot down f35 like flies.

That is why Japan is developing it's own 5th gen fighter as it knows that the F-35 is no match
for J-20 or J-31.

the problem with f35 is that it want to put all funtions of diferent aircrats into one plane, this is a arrogant concpet. when J20 show up, it approved to be stupid cause it could not excel in any of its funtions. a white elephant at the most.

The reason for the F-35 is that the US did not even think that the J-20 prototype would be ready till at least 2025. With the J-20 ready for service very soon the idea of buying F-35 to face off against China does
not seem like a good idea anymore.

The planes being used all over the world right now to attack ground targets are multi role aircraft. They are being used in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and others.

A plane like a dedicated F22 is useless in these circumstances. You are failing to see the big picture. Or are you just talking about having A/B/C versions.

Then every jet that became multi-missions multi-roles are wrong ?

6th gen fighter is based on YF-23.

Got any hard data to support your assertion ?

But if you want to go that way, then I say that when Lightnings strikes, the J-20 pilots will not know what hit them. The US have defeated 'stealth', pal. Those flippity-floppity canards are going to give the J-20 away as if the Chinese pilots fly beacons.

OK, whatever you say dude.

F-35 has compromised stealth, manoeuvrability and low top-speed - a "jack-of-all trades and master of none" aircraft so to speak.

It was never designed as an air-superiority fighter and so would nearly always lose in air-combat against dedicated air-superiority 5th generation fighters like J-20.

The fact is J-20 is still years away from bieng inducted
