Aerial view of a small village along KKH. Jaglot , Gilgit Balistan. From a height, the green village amongst barren hills looks like a river flowing.

Nightmare incase of floods, why do people have to live everywhere.
Extremely Beautiful...…. And extremely dangerous on the same time..
I think the flow of the water is well contained at the top but what really amazes me is how these people might travel to the nearest town or city and how long would it take them to get there.

Naltar Valley in Bonanza of Autumn

Colorful stones..... They can be excellent paper weights in my office.

ideal place for getting psycho. such places may appear beautiful in pics but such a narrow valley with barren mountains so high and close have detrimental effects on a person's psyche. secondly it is a very dangerous place . flash floods and land sliding after any earth quake can destroy the entire village.

I'm just disappointed that people destroy such beautiful places by settling there.

Jaglot is a nice place, got a bit of family there. Yes it's known for it's river and Walnut, the river is spectacular and the bridge over it is quite fine too.

That's not an issue, the roads are there and Jaglot is on way to Gilgit not too far away, plus it's not like a remote village, it's on the way.

If floods were an issue we'd evacuate most of the villages there.

True, it's dangerous but it's home to many people. Hunza is far more dangerous but people live there we need to control on deforestation and build reservoirs, we can control floods. Land sliding is a more serious issue there.

@bananarepublic , bhai tell them about Hunza.

Dr.Herman who has researched about Hunza told us that there is nothing permanent about the Hunza landscape it is an extreme volatile region the people living there are not permanent and have to move after at least after two generation.
Hunza is probably the most hard hit regions of climate change .

I didn't know, other than the Attabad incident have we had other such major changes?

Huh. You don't know about how the river between Hunza and nagar was so small that people would jump over it .
Or the landslide that created a lake even bigger than attabad and it even happened in the same place

Or the fact that passu glacier in the 70/80 was so close to the road that a person could touch it from the road

If you have time talk to you elders about their lives they have many interesting stories
