Srinagar: Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a module of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant outfit by arresting seven ultras and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from Sopore area of Baramulla district in Kashmir.

"Police, with the assistance of other security forces, busted a recruitment module of terrorist outfit Lashkar-e- Toiba, thus averting a major terror and subversion plan of the terrorists.

"Seven members of the terror module were arrested from different areas of Sopore town and adjoining areas," a police spokesman said.

He said local boys were recruited into the outfit for building a network of LeT operatives and executing "various terrorist actions in and around Sopore."

"The actions were to be carried out in a criminal conspiracy with a Pakistani terrorist, with the code name of Fahadullah, who is operating in Sopore and who in turn has been taking directions from Hanzullah - an LeT commander based in Pakistan," the spokesman said.

He said Fahadullah, who is the only surviving LeT militant of Pakistani origin and active in Sopore at present, used to indoctrinate the youth with 'Jehadi' ideology.

"The group members had formally joined LeT and were provided the communication gadgets and weaponry.

Before being "baptised" into the organisation, the members of the module have been assigned with various tasks of couriering weapons and money, identifying targets vis-a-vis security installations and arranging communication devices," the spokesman said.

He said some of the members of the module were preparing to visit Pakistan on legal documents to get further training in bomb making and other subversive activities, while others were preparing other terrorist actions including grenade attacks on VIP rallies, police and security forces.

The arrested LeT members have been identified as Umar Rashid Shala alias Khan, Shabir Ahmad Shosha alias Waseem, Farooq Ahmad alias Sajad Mudasir, Majeed Dar alias Ammar, Amir Bashir War alais Mahi, Reyaz Ahmad Dhobi and Maroof Ahmad Lone.

The recoveries made at the instance of the arrested youths includes one Pika Gun, 75 rounds of Pika ammunition, two Chinese pistols with two magazines, an Underbarrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) with six shells, a rocket launcher and four hand grenades.

Superintendent of Police Imtiyaz Hussain said, "Facing dearth of foreign terrorists, the LeT is desperate to recruit the local youth of Kashmir by indoctrinating them with radical ideology.

"We request parents to keep a close watch on their children and keep them away from these elements who instigate them for terrorism and violence," he added.

They had unlimited power to question and search anybody without hassles.

But then rights enjoyed by citizens of India would go out of the window..What to do..

.
7 less terrorists to kill.. Ah! well, if nothing else we saved the cost of 7 bullets which is more than what these guys are worth

. .
India should destroy pakistan once and for all and get rid of this terrorism menace!

**** the rights..lets sort the situation first and think about the rights later.(says me...a resident of J&K)

killing them will not give us intel . and as living prisoners ,they are a constant reminder to the world who their masters are .

Sirji,Intel can be taken out and then they can be shot.I am all for taking a hard stance on this. These guys will rot till they get old in our jails and are a constant reminder to us that we are not dealing with the situation like we should.Dragging the situation will only make it longer..Where are we on Kasabs hanging...Nowhere!!

+their masters are never going to admit their role... We should stop worrying and start taking action, as famously said many times over and for posterity, a dead terrorist is the best terrorist...

The SOG were seeing a lot of success because all of the guys were localites who knew the languages and it was very hard for the Terrorists to distinguish between them and the SOG.

Sadly, this couldnt be digested by the kashmiri politicians and they were disbanded.(My cousin used to be a part of SOG)
