SRINAGAR: The Army said on Friday that the recent raid in which a lecturer was killed in the valley wasn't sanctioned and such acts by soldiers won't be tolerated. It expressed regret over the death in the raid in Khrew area of Pulwama district and ordered an inquiry into the incident.

"These raids were not sanctioned. Nobody can support it (the killing) and it will not be tolerated," Northern Army Commander Lt Gen DS Hooda told reporters. He added that an inquiry would be conducted into the violence that took place on the night of August 17 in Khrew in which Shabir Ahmad Monga, a lecturer, was killed, and 18 others wounded.

Shabir and others were beaten up by soldiers for resisting house-to-house searches by the Army looking for stone-pelters. "Shabir was ruthlessly beaten up by the Army and was declared dead on arrival by doctors in Pampore hospital," locals alleged.

Gen Hooda made an appeal to the separatists to come forward to help restore peace. "My appeal is for calm. We have to sit down, put our heads together and see if we can find a way out of this situation. So everybody, who is in anyway involved in J&K, needs to introspect and see what can be done. It is not person or one organisation which can do it (alone)," he was quoted by PTI as saying.

I have started this thread for sane debate , If Indian forces are behaving in this manner then what moral ground do we have to raise atrocities in Baluchistan .... its appalling and bad . For god sake they are Indians and please dont treat them some one else .

Let those who did this face hardest possible punishment , if we consider Kashmir as our part then our forces have to behave in more professional manner

There will be an inquiry on this and truth should come out. All responsible officers will have to face the consequences of unauthorized actions.

In another news paper, some excerpts
Lecturer Shabir Ahmad Mango, among those taken away by the Army personnel, was brought dead to Pampore hospital early Thursday.

Block Medical Officer Dr Saba told The Indian Express: “He (Shabir) was brought here by police at 5.30 in the morning. He was brought dead. He had external injuries on the face and chest.”

Abdul Majeed, a resident of Sharshali, said Army personnel came to the village Wednesday night. “It was around 10.30 pm when Army vehicles entered our village from different directions. The men entered every house. They were also carrying rods and planks with nails. Anyone who came in their way was beaten up.”

Abdul Ahad, admitted with injuries to the SMHS Hospital in Srinagar, said: “Four of us, including Shabir, were taken to an Army camp at Pampore. At around three in the night, they (Army personnel) took us to the police station. Shabir was dying and the police were refusing to take him. He (Shabir) asked for water and then passed away at the police station.”

Pulwama Deputy Commissioner Muneer-ul-Islam said: “We have registered an FIR under sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder). We have conducted an autopsy.”

The Army regretted the incident and said there will be a probe. Lt General Satish Dua, General Officer Commanding of the Srinagar-based 15 Corps, said: “It is regrettable. We are looking into it. It was a joint patrol. It is not clear yet what happened. We will investigate.”

if we consider Kashmir as our part then our forces have to behave in more professional manner

Hence why this matter even came out and we will see an inquiry and court martial occur most likely.

A section of soldiers do not represent the whole security force apparatus, nor do they represent India or Kashmiris.

But their version of the story needs to be heard by the JAG in front of testimony and evidence...and a verdict and closure given at the end of it.

Discipline cannot be compromised at any level.
We need to maintain the professionalism of out army for which it is known for, it can be done by a fair and transparent trial to incidence like these.
Not all, but which have some prima facie evidence

If Army cant punish such cruel creatures among them , then rest of Indians and political parties wont support Army and their AFSPA in there .
We know the sacrifices of our soldiers and a lots others are sacrificing their life for this nation .But we cant tolerate the cruelties against our brothers in valley .Such acts are disgracing the balidan of other good brave men
We Keralites still remembers the state police cruelties against their own people during emergency .
Whatever it takes ,punish all those involved in that killing.
