J-10C defeats JAS39C/D with a high score in Sino-Thai joint exercise: report

J-10C and JAS39 flying in formation

It’s been a mystery how J-10C fighters performed in last month’s military exercise with Thailand’s JAS39C/D Gripen fighters as there’s no official information about the results, but some Chinese media channels have been reporting unconfirmed news about J-10C’s “complete victory”.

One Chinese news account reported yesterday that according to some Russian media, J-10C and JAS39C/D fighters appeared at the same time to celebrate the successful conclusion of the joint exercise, and J-10C has achieved brilliant results in this exercise. In the combat exercise, J-10C fighters defeated JAS39C/D fighters with a big score gap. And this is not surprising because the performance of J-10C is superior in terms of maneuverability and handling. However, the Western countries did not understand this, so they were very surprised when they learned of such a result.

In the simulation exercise, the super high maneuverability supported by J-10C’s canard wing layout makes JAS39C/D fighters at a loss. At the same time, J-10C’s radar and avionics systems are more advanced than JAS39C/D fighters. In middle-and long-distance battles, JAS39C/D fighters often did not find J-10C before they were locked and shot down by missiles. In the close combats, J-10C’s ultra-high maneuverability has an unparalleled advantage. The canard wing layout makes the fighter’s power very abundant, while JAS39C/D fighter has no power to fight back.

It’s quoted that a US F-16 retired pilot said on social media that he is very aware of the performance of the Gripens, so he’d take off his hat and pay tribute to J-10C for its advantages in the simulated air combats. The pilot also said that JAS39C/D fighters also have a pair of canards. Before the US military gained experience in combating canard wing fighters, they had conducted confrontation exercises with JAS39C/D.

The pilot said he faced great pressure when driving the F-16 against JAS39C/D fighters. JAS39C/D fighters are light fighters, and the radar and avionics systems were very advanced. Even if F-16’s air-to-air missiles could lock JAS39C/D fighters, the latter could get rid of them in time with super high mobility. Therefore, as J-10C achieved such a record in the actual combat against JAS39C/D fighter, this proves the superiority of J-10C performance.

According to the report, a spokesman for the White House said that the joint exercise between Thailand and China is unacceptable. This will only enhance the actual combat capability of the Chinese Air Force. The US has just signed an order for armored vehicles with Thailand, and the West should be Thailand’s choice. But from the current behavior of Thailand, it is obvious that the country has its own ideas. It is reported that in addition to the joint exercise with the Chinese Air Force, Thailand’s navy also participated in a joint military exercise between the United States and the ASEAN.

PAF should think about 4-5 squadrons of J10C as stop gap solution because project Azm will take some time
yup 72 will be very good number to stop india from further Balakot type air strikes. J10c will be 10 times better than conditional F-16s which PAF desires to have from US

I have some source from Thai that they didnt give 100percent for this exercise. Meaning some of the Gripen system did not utilised. This is requested by the manufacturer of Gripen as to keep secret about their system.

But anyway, Gripen is considered a light aircraft compare to J-10 which is a medium class. So in theory, its not a very fair fight.

its quite normal now, No country expose full fledged features of their elite weapons, I m sure J10-c did the same

PAF 16 ( a medium weight fighter) downed an SU30 of IAF (a heavy fighter) so the light and medium do not matter that much in dog fight or BVR.. the main differences is normally in the amount of payload and range.

Gangadesh won't be doing Balakot again in a long time after what happened to them on Feb 27... so the coward rats are still suffering from the nightmares.
But we need a medium and a heavy fighter in our fleet for a larger conflict in case of full fledge war.

Bigger plane do helps sometimes as with more raw amount of thrust, longer legged and bigger radar. Especially mock exercise when AWACS or AEW are usually non utilized in most scenario which left to one on one fight.

PAF F-16 victory in (LOC)2019 are all associate with BVRAAM which much credited for PAF better situation awareness thru their AWACS or ground radar support and better missiles rather than pure credit of the fighter .

Yes that's why I say that PAF may evaluate J10C once again and order a few squadrons depending on the PAF's pocket and friendship ;)

Let me guess, no ECM warfare. These are national trade secrets, they don't want revealed. ECMs among the most important tools a fighter can utilize.

Im telling u guys, im telling u.......J10C is a beast! its vastly vastly improved form of J10A who had those 50 errors......Some of our air marshals r still living in 2006 era, under first impression is the last impression mentality.......

Chinese are NOT a western civilization, u cant gauge them from western standards, in 2018 shaheen exercises these aeroplanes did came into Pakistan, and they didnt let any aircraft from our side near them in combat!!

These aircrafts r a real thing, there is some hard and real stuff in these aircrafts coming directly from J20 thanks to CATIC and Yang Wei(the chief designer of JF 17, J10 and J20 projects)

J-10A had already defeated JAS-39C/D in 2017.

J-10C is an upgraded plane in series from A and then B. There was no technology of J-20 back in the days when PAF aid PLAAF to have some 50 upgrades/changes in J-10A to make it far more superior than its capability at that time. Let's not take jibes without any information merely to pretend like I know it all. In-fact those were not errors rather, suggested upgrades to bring it par with any existing capable fighter of that class as we operate Falcons & had experience in that domain hence, our requirement for more better Fighter Jet. I am sure, Air Marshall was supposed to know more than any online expert even if it was back in 2006. Not to forget that those 50 upgrades were advised when there was only J-10A however, the road map of a better class fighter brought it to what is called J-10C of today.

No, he is not taking jibes, in fact he is appreciating J10C ... just read his post carefully mate.
