So can you guys finally put your rant on how J-10B will be a Typhoon/Rafale equivalent to rest? If I were you, I'd wait for another 7 years before speculating on any Chinese planes surpassing their European counterparts.

how is this going to help us protect against daily bomblast by CIA sponsered TTP??
 
I'll give my opinion, but let's take the poll first.

Anyways, my argument is:
- The J-10B's randome has vents and shape that are consistent with AESA radars. It's also different in size and color from the J-10A.
- The radar in the clear picture is newly made, so it very well might have been in radar testing (considering that J-10B will enter production this year, it can't possibly use a newly developed radar).
- Wasn't the purpose of the J-10B to test 5th-generation avionics?
- Why install AESA on less capable J-11B and J-15 and not J-10B?
- Why is the J-10B in yellow primer when other J-10B are in PLAAF grey? This suggests testbed.

imo
the cost of chinese T/R modules is too high at present though AESA is better. so PLAAF made a PESA's option at last

there are still AESA option. if the cost of chinese T/R modules can be reduced, perhaps PAF will choose an AESA version of J10b in future

Not vanished. We don't know yet. Until we get confirmation, it is up to debate.

Even if the J-10B does initially get PESA, it will very soon be upgraded to AESA, thus possessing a notable edge over the Eurofighter Tranche 3.
 
Different radars being tested , its an established fact that J-10B will have an AESA , its just a matter of time when !
 
Its using AESA , but some models could be flying with PESA , multiple configurations are possible

Currently, I don't think the Typhoon or Rafale have AESA; Typhoons currently use CAPTOR, which is pulse doppler, and Rafale has RBE2 which is a PESA.

Secondly, consider that the J-10A/B will be the low end of PLAAF future hi-lo mix, whereas Typhoons and Rafales are the high end of RAF and ALA.

It's been pretty established on SinoDefence Forum that the J-10B uses an AESA radar (the moderators explained it thoroughly).

True, the J-10A/B are not considered high end fighters. China is believed, by military commentators and various analysts, to be undertaking the J-16, J-18, J-19, JH-7B, and J-2X that will be released 2011-2012, along with the current J-20.

If anything, it shows that the PLAAF is not completely satisfied with the J-10A/B and J-11B series, even when they can be produced in big numbers and are generally considered 4.5 generation fighters.
