Italian firms keen on missile defence system deal with Pakistan

Companies market these things all the time and the armed forces probably attend the presentations and see demonstrations time to time, doesn't make any of them a factor. We need to wait for official statements from one side or the other before saying things "will" happen. Sure, "could" or "maybe" are interesting and should be debated, but these aren't certainties.
French guys including highest defence guys were not here to play dandia or just show there faces and yes they offering is first step second step is we ready to buy or not but most of the time issue we face is that most companies not used to take first step but now times have changed and every company is trying to jump in

Thanks a lot sir for trying to explain this simple fact. Not every meeting means defense hardware procurement deals. Even not all of those marketing drives means that they system is officially offered to us and that we are buying it. Thanks for trying to explain this sir as i am getting tired now.

I remember when Pakistan was interested in the Type 214. It quickly became known in the German media, and from there, it progressed to negotiations and near-finalization. It has basically been the same for the MILGEM, T-129, BREN, and so many other systems (especially the Block-52+). Heck, even the TFX stuff has more credence because we have statements from our own MoDP, the Turkish SSM and even TAI. If the PAF was interested in the Typhoon, we'd see it front-page everywhere - no way would Leonardo, Airbus DS or BAE would keep a lid on such news.

True, you are completely right about this.
To add one thing more, being associated with such rumors and with senior members being involved in speculations and all, we-the forum, are losing our creditability. I just hope and pray that there are people who realize this problem.

Oh bro the discussions have improved a great deal in the last few months, hence I take part more.

Does anyone know the current state of play regarding acquiring the HQ-9?

I don't know about current purchases.

Aster is not one of them, not for this financial year and not likely for the next either. There are more pressing needs for now and they will be given priority.

There is a slight possibilty of Ship system purchases from ITALY i guess since we are (according to rumours) buying 4 MILGEM (dunno frigate or corvette)

Haven't you heard about the SU-35 deal yet? It's coming with full tech transfer. Quite a few sources on PDF have confirmed it. Russia is now Pakistan's pakha dost.

I heard the aircraft carrier on which they are coming and will be operated from by PN was held at port with a flat tire and thus the delay.

Bear in mind the sensor and weapons package for Qatar's 4 Fincantieri corvettes and 3 OPVs cost like 2.2 bn euros. This includes radars and Aster 30 SAMs for the corvettes. This route would be out of the PN's price range. If AAW is being pursued, I think the MBDA CAMM would be the ceiling. IMO the PN would want to aim for a $200m-ish per ship price point at this stage, and I think a combo like the Smart-S Mk2 or Giraffe AMB with Umkhonto EIR is way likelier.

For PNs use the CAMM is ideal. Its 60km range give reasonable response time to intercept AShM and its compact size and quad-packablility allow for 4x as many missiles as most of its competitors. It is active guidance allowing for less radars resulting in space and cost savings. It allows a 2450t ship like LF-2400 or I-class to be equipped with a large number of weapons (64 SAMs). 64 medium ranged SAMs backed by 21 short range SAMs (FL-3000N) and 2 CIWS will provide these ships with reasonable air defense to overcome AShM saturation attacks. When used in a flotilla they will be able to add a layer of defense to their accompanying ships. I picture small squadrons of ships made up of a turkish frigate with CAMM, an F-22p and 2 subs on patrol during conflicts. During peace time they would operate independently.
