Italian firms keen on missile defence system deal with Pakistan

Spada mobile version.

It appears PA wants a mobile SR-SAM to deal with PGM. I can't think of any other role for a system similar to Spada or Umkhonto GBAD when FM-90 and LY-80 are in service.

If i am not wrong the Mobile and improved version was on display at Ideas 2016 .. but i do agree with you that why we are looking for another SR-SAM , wouldn't be better to approach Buk-M3 ?

Army probably wants a mobile GBAD for dealing with PGMs.

MBDA is currently developing the CAMM-ER missile to replace Aspide 2000. Maybe, some will come the Pak way.

I was looking at pics i took at Ideas one i posted in my previous post but that one was SPADA-2000 .. my brother took my camera for quite long time while i was trying to understand Italians explaining something to 2 Serving PA officers ..
can't say about CAMM-ER but Marte MK2/S was surely on table maybe PA was looking for another Coastal Defense System ? Instead of SAM ..

Above report indicates this is a separate tender (from FM-90).

MBDA, represented here by its Italian branch, finalised in 2010 deliveries of the SPADA ground-based air defence system which is now in service with the Pakistan Air Force (PAF). The missile-house is now considering not only supplying more SPADA 2000s to the PAF, but also “plans to supply a few batteries to the ground forces,” MBDA told us. As the latter are looking for a more mobile system, MBDA last year proposed a technical solution with a view to opening negotiations with the Pakistani ground forces.

Pakistan should make hard efforts to come close to Italian Defence Hardware industry as our Scientist & Engineers will benefit a lot from it.
