Italian firms keen on missile defence system deal with Pakistan

They r old but very reasonable price Italians don't fly them they a storage .

We have SPADA 2000 mix with china system why not mix Astor with HQ19
Long-range SAMs are expensive. This is true for the Chinese HQ-9 just as it is for the S-400 and SAMP/T. I don't expect the Army, Air Force or even Navy to have different long-range SAMs, they'll likely pool resources to have a standard type. Ultimately, the FD-2000 (export HQ-9) is the likeliest to win, but that would be a multi-billion dollar program, best to see what else can be had before plunging in. @cabatli_53 Isn't Eurosam trying to market the SAMP/T to Turkey, or is that embargoed as well? :P

.
@Tank131 @Penguin @cabatli_53 I wonder if MBDA took the initiative and offered the Sea Ceptor for the F-22P and, potentially, MILGEM (i.e. LF-2400).
camm is a british missile, the camm-er is an upgrade done by avio an italian firm to extend the range.

if such news is true then i expect pakistan looking for a sam for frigates as south africa sign a defence cooperate agreement not to long ago.

Eurosam offers Samp/t to Turkey with a satisfactory national input but The project converted into a government to government negotiations so Officials have just canalized to acquire S-400 SAM from Russia for a long time as a symbol of normalizing the relations with Russia so SAMP/T is not inside current agenda bro.

Yep, but we've seen Italy serve as a marketing and sales leg of British goods before too. Kuwait signed the Typhoon deal with Leonardo, but the platform belongs to the Consortium and each partner will have work-share. Leonardo's radar and avionics line is from its Selex branch in the UK.

italy makes one of the wings for the typhons whilst spain make the other and have their own final assembly in italy too. the reasonkuwait is having their typhoons being made in italy is because they can be delivered faster. anyway........

the missiles is from mbda. italy via leonardo has a stake in mbda and has the right to market any missile they like but in most cases they would market missiles that are built in their home country or build part of it. you wont find the uk marketing the kepd350 even though is from a company we have a stake in.

Nice gesture the italian choppers are quickly becoming everyone's favourite

Growing up Italians always captured my imagination as they act very similar to Pakistanis from their family structure and very old fashioned ideas on marrige and other background matter and later I learned from their historical achivement in general history and various contributions

Aster only ....Old Eurofighters ? For God sake ...plz :hitwall:

See, I was looking for an alternative reasoning. You had it going. Smart man. I agree, the best bang for the buck for Pakistan is not to continue to buy older Aspide based tech. But to further her relations with the Russians and get S-300 (ideally S-400 but don't see this happening this quickly). Or, TOT with China on a longer range SAM (S-300 equivalent Chinese version). And locally build and produce it and run your own industry. The next variant can be built inside Pakistan within 10 years after license producing the first long range variant.

Pakistan knows how to build missiles very well obviously. We all see the constant testing going on. The only thing they need is the Seeker tech and the Radar integration with fire control systems. That's where the TOT comes into play as I suggested above.

Aster 30 if we get our hands on and can pay for it will be more than enough from Italy ... based on our Past SPADA 2000 Deal with them, i doubt Italy will have any problem giving Aster 30 to PA..
@Quwa @Blue Marlin how is Aster 30 compared to S-400 ?

The Aster 30 has a range of 120 km, much less than the 40N6 (400-km) and 48N6 (200-250-km) missiles in the S-400. The Aster 30 is in the league of the FD-2000 (export HQ-9) and S-350.

And what about Radar and Tracking ?? its performance can be compared to S-400 except the range ..

If buying from Italy, I guess one would get the Leonardo Kronos Grand, which is an AESA radar with an instrumented range of 250-300 km. The S-400 has multiple radar options, generally 400-600 km.

KARACHI: Italian manufacturers and suppliers of military hardware, particularly missile defence systems, are eyeing Pakistan as a potential market to export their products and technology.

Representatives of leading defense equipment manufacturers, including MBDA, Italian developer and manufacturer of missiles; Elettronica, Integrated Electronic Attack and Self-Protection Systems developer; and Fincantieri, an Italian shipbuilding company on Thursday held a press conference onboard the visiting Italian Navy ship ITS Carabiniere. They briefed the press about their companies' expertise and willingness to explore Pakistan's market for defence products.

Earlier, Francesco Pagnotta, the commanding officer of the visiting Italian ship, briefed the media about the ship and her visit to South-East Asia and Australia.

ITS Carabiniere is an anti-submarine warship that was delivered to the Italian Navy in April 2015. ITS Carabiniere is fitted with latest generation platform and combat systems based on state of the art military and civil standards.

ITS Carabiniere's deployment is aimed at strengthening the ongoing cooperation with some trans-regional allies and developing relations with potential partners. The main theme of the naval campaign is maritime safety and surveillance, cooperation strengthening and naval diplomacy, Pagnotta said.

He said that the visit to South East Asia and Australia had started from Italy on December 20 last year. He said it reflected an international vision that converged and outlined this century as the "Blue Age". "The Blue Growth is considered a key factor for sustainable development of the countries where the sea is a key resource for business growth, employment and technology," he said.

The visit of Italian navy ship to Pakistan will strengthen bilateral relations and open new avenues in the area of defence collaboration and cooperation between the two navies.

The ship has reached Karachi after visiting Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Australia and Singapore where the frigate joined exercitations with local navies and took part in LIMA 17, held in Malaysia. The deployment of the ship was organised with the support of Fincantieri, Leonardo, MBDA Italia, Elettronica and Telespazio.

Italian defence attaché and officials of Pakistan Navy were also present in the press conference.
We should not accept anything without Transfer of technology.
