What's new

It was a staged, phony coup to make Erdogan Sultan of Turkey

Yeah definitely true, now we just wait for the 'phony' actors to get 'real' prison sentences. The coup guys love Erdogan so much they going to go prison/gallows for him.

LOL Well said.

lol what a turn around. Before they were saying bye bye to Erdogan now they're making up conspiracy theories to saves their sorry asses. Erdogan was mending ties with Syria and Russia. It probably had something to do with that instead.

The outrageous thing is that the real plotters of the coup are blaming and pointing fingers at others. It is the world upside down.

It was very selfish and reckless for ERDOGAN to make such a case to be honest. But hey, he gambled and it worked out well for him. :enjoy:

Yeah, Erdogan should have asked the champions of democracy for saving democracy in Turkey. I feel sorry for you that he didn't give those peddlers of democracy the chance.

I agree completely with this part though: "I thought it was extremely reckless of Erdogan to call for the people to take to the streets but luckily the conspirators didn't have the courage to shoot their own people. Which is a positive"..

This to me was the real turning point. Had those soldiers try to quell the protests by shooting at/killing the protesters, then this coup would have taken a whole new nasty turn a la Syria. Syrians were unlucky in that their military/soldiers were not like Turkish soldiers who will hesitate to kill their on people in massive numbers just so their leader in stay in power or seize power .

Erdogan is a wicked man who is using islamist populism to turn Turkey into a sultanate sitting on the edge of Europe.

Sun Tzu - Only start a battle if you know you can win.

The coup plotters started the battle when they were at a DISADVANTAGE which is incredibly reckless.

It seems they were forced to do it out of desperation, since Erdogan already made it clear he was going to (in a matter of weeks) crack down on the Gulen supporters in the military.

Erdogan wins big time here. He forced them to move when they knew they couldn't win, so of course the coup plotters lost.
yes but sun Tzu also said don't make your enemy think there is no way of escape so they wont fight to the last man after the way the army was treated and the way Erdogan is moving against anyone opposing him you have to wonder what will the people who are against him think in the army and streets when they see herds of bearded zombies in the streets

Luxurious prison prepare for those conspiracy members and large amount of money secretly channel to their family members to ensure rest of life well taken care of. You can't expect Erdogan to set them free and goes unpunish and it will make the plot looks unreal, right?

Steve, non of the force commanders and general staff was involved in the coup attempt. Couping faction captured them and tried to get control of the military....but they didn't succeed. Result was they could bring a small force on the streets and failed.

If whole military had been involved. Nobody could stop them.

Your military as an institution is strong.

They know their place as the defenders of your country.

Congratulations.

Ataturk has created a fabulous institution that knows its place and respects its responsibilities even if it has in the past wrested control, only to return it back to civilian government.

The man in the second photo is an actor, he went out to resist the coup and saved that soldier from mob alongside those conservative looking people.
Not only conservatives resisted but people from all fractions where also seculars were amongst them, we know what 3 coups has done to this country and nobody wants to see those days again.

BTW: having a beard doesnt mean anything.

Ahh yes, here come the conspiracy theories.

When the coup appeared to be a success, most of the people here was shouting at the USA/Israel/England for supporting it.

When it failed, the same people are accusing Erdogan of creating a fake coup.

Regardless of whether you like Erdogan or don't, where is the support for the coupers amongst the people? I've seen numerous rallies in support of the government but non against it. Even the western media which doesn't really support Erdogan hasn't been able to find any anti-government rallies.
