The main dual pulse rocket motor... in a DRDO lab....

There was a delay in the project because of new technologies developed...

Why the Delay

Defence Minister Arun Jaitley listed the causes of delay of four years saying there was a mid-way upward revision of performance requirements; A number of new technologies developed first time; Delay in rear section development and production due to design change of Servo Pneumatic to Electro-mechanical and lastly Technological challenge of combustion instability of Rocket Motor took a long time

Please note that DRDO has 52 labs, number of universities, 100s of companies like Tata, reliance, L&T, Godrej are involved in production. Its not like suddenly a chinese copy comes out of a complex. it needs huge R&D.

. .
and only those 5 things make up the whole missile or you just wanted to show indian contribution to be 60%

OK the above comment by the guy was in bad taste I apologize in his behalf , its 50-50 one more thing to note is the range has been increased to more than 90 km as DRDO has supplied new booster which is more powerful & a land based version of SAM system is in development with range of 150km called barak ER

India has increased its range to 90 Kms with improved propellant grain.
Whereas Israel has increased range to 120-150kms with new bigger booster.

The joint Israeli-Indian Barak-8 missile system completed another successful test on Thursday, successfully eliminating an enemy target.

The Barak 8, an upgraded version of the Barak system both countries already use, is designed to defend naval vessels against incoming missiles, planes and drones.

Designed to defend against a variety of short-to-long-range airborne threats - including fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, drones and projectiles - Barak-8 incorporates a state-of-the-art phased array multi-mission radar, two-way data link, and a flexible command and control system, enabling users to simultaneously engage multiple targets day and night and in all weather conditions, according to IAI.

The Barak-8 is part of next-generation defenses currently being installed on Israeli Navy ships to protect them from threats that include Russian-made Yakhont surface-to-sea missiles reportedly in the possession of Lebanese Shi'ite militia Hezbollah. To date, the system has racked up "significant sales" to customers around the world, IAI said.

The former commander of Israel's Navy Missile Boats Flotilla (Shayetet 3), Col. Eyal Harel told the Israeli news site Ynet that Israel knows how do deal with the threats posed by the Yakhont.

"We introduced the new Adir radar system, which provides wide-scope coverage and detection, and soon we will introduce the Barak 8 surface-to-air missiles that will improve our defense capabilities, like a naval Iron Dome,"he said adding that "even now we can already deal with the Yakhont with the tools at our disposal. But we should take the Yakhont very seriously; it's not a toothless threat. If this thing is launched and hits - that would be bad,"

Other partners in the project include ELTA Systems Ltd., an IAI subsidiary which develops the radar, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, which produces the interceptor missile, and other defense firms.

Dr. Avinash Chander, Head of DRDO and Scientific adviser to the Indian defense minister, said that "this is an important milestone in the cooperation between India and Israel and in the development of the Barak-8 advanced air defense system."
so in few days we tested
aad

This is really exciting news great work drdo and isreal

It seems quite Good work from Isrealis and JV with India. Because a solid defence gives best aggression as weapon. Seems to achieve the highest tech to come around

Is the speed of this missile incorrectly reported (classified) or is it really 2 mach? (Ok its not a question, if classified we wont know)

Because although fine for missile interception, for targetting fighter aircraft this speed is not sufficient I feel (for a tail chase, thus reducing effective range)

Well some Israeli & Indian member quoted speed of mach 4.5 in past, speed is surely more than mach 2
