An Israeli defense delegation arrived in Germany on Wedensday ahead of the planned delievery of Israel's fourth Dolphin-calss submarine.

Defense delegation arrives in Germany ahead of delivery of Dolphin-class sub, rumored to be capable of carrying nukes.

A defense delegation arrived in Germany on Wednesday ahead of the planned delivery of Israel’s fourth Dolphin-class submarine, widely rumored to be capable of carrying nuclear weapons.

Led by Defense Ministry director-general Udi Shani, the delegation met with senior German defense officials and was scheduled to visit the shipyard where the submarine is being built. It is expected to arrive in Israel in the coming months.

Israel’s submarines are the military’s most expensive platform and are often referred to as the country’s second-strike doomsday weapon due to their reported ability to fire cruise missiles tipped with nuclear warheads.

The three Dolphin-class submarines in the navy’s fleet are called Dolphin, Leviathan and Tekuma and are believed to be some of the most advanced diesel-electric submarines in the world.

Germany donated the first two submarines after the First Gulf War and split the cost of the third with Israel. The three submarines currently in the navy’s possession employ a diesel-electric propulsion system, which requires them to resurface frequently to recharge their batteries.

The submarines under construction will be fitted with a new propulsion system combining a conventional diesel lead-acid battery system and an air-independent propulsion system used for slow, silent cruising, with fuel cells for oxygen and hydrogen storage.

The submarine that will be delivered is one of two which Israel ordered following the Second Lebanon War in 2006.

In March, Israel signed a contract for a sixth submarine, meaning that by the end of the decade the navy will have doubled its fleet. The German government heavily subsidized both recent deals.

These submarines are capable of launching nuclear capable missiles. It gives Israel the capability to flatten the entire middle east if they are threatened.

i see your real face now > just like your friends:wave:

if israel ever nukes a middle east country believe me this aint a joke there will not be 1 jew left in ME ,they will be the no.1 hated race by far , im not being rude but its truth

Dont worry nobady going to nuke nobady

I always stand by the truth.:azn: And the truth is that these nuclear submarines with nuclear weapons give Israel the capability to destroy all Arab cities if they are threatened. There will be no diplomatic repercussions because US will side with Israel and Arabs have little or no capacity of waging non-conventional warfare against Israel.

You can stay in denial of reality but this is your choice.:coffee:

how so? please explain how you will "kill all jews"?

yeah i bit > i see the truth when it comes to syria > what kind of truth your talking about

Is there anything factually incorrect with what he stated? The submarines ARE capable of launching nukes if needed, and nukes are capable of turning a vast area of land, in this case the Middle East into one glassy shithole.

lets not drill the thread > its just a word in my mind want to spell it out thats it > got any problem with that !

Nice sub
:partay:

I am impatience to see the next 2 sub that expected to be bigger.

Personally I think the 2 remaining Gal Class subs should be retrofitted for a fleet of 8. Though not as capable as the Dolphins, they could be assigned to a coastal defense role in wartime and a training role in peacetime.

German Navy is still using a few Type 206A, which is the basis of the modernized Gal-class, eventhough the germans decided in late 2010 to retire them to save on operational cost. Germany sold few months ago 2 type 206A for $ 220 milions - $110m per unit - to the Thai Navy. That means the Gal submarines are still worthy and should be salvageable if they are not scrapped yet. They could serve as training vessels for new draftees or be part of a new reserve unit. At worse they could be kept in 'operational storage' for emergency.

Popeye Turbo - a stretched version developed for use as a submarine launched cruise missile (SLCM), it is approx 6.25 m (20.5 ft) long and is reported to have at least a range of more than 320 km (200 miles) which is the range of the air launched version, a widely reported 2002 test in the Indian Ocean hit a target at 1500km, it can allegedly carry a 200kg nuclear warhead. It is suspected that the stretched Popeye Turbo is a strategic second strike nuclear deterrent weapon used aboard the Israeli Dolphin class submarines.

The ultimate tool of warfare

New details regarding the capabilities of the 4th Dolphin submarine that the Israeli Navy is expected to receive in 2013

The Israeli Navy's new Dolphin submarine is the ultimate tool of warfare. Forget everything you knew about submarines, most of which is probably from watching war movies. This is something entirely different. We will not list all the measures installed onboard the submarine. This is in part because not all is known to us, and also because parts of it are classified. However, according to foreign publications, the submarine has two systems from which one can deduce about its capabilities.
The first system is an advanced and impervious SATCOM satellite communication system, which gives the military brass the ability to be in direct, secured contact with the submarine's command at all times. The second is a system of 650mm torpedo tubes. According to foreign publications, these are not ordinary torpedo tubes, but rather sophisticated launchers from which various weapon systems can be launched, including cruise missiles equipped with nuclear warheads.
Foreign sources can tell that the submarine is capable of launching Rafael's advanced Popeye Turbo missile. This is a variant of an air-to-surface missile developed by the company which is no longer used in its original form. According to the same foreign publications, the US Navy monitored a test of such a cruise missile from an Israeli submarine in the Indian Ocean.
Take the following imaginary scenario for example – an Israeli navy submarine is cruising somewhere near Iran. In a moment of religious fervor, the Ayatollah regime decides to launch a nuclear missile at Israel after the world has failed in its efforts to halt Iran's nuclear program. The IDF's HQ in the Kiriya base understands what is happening and decides to launch a severe counterstrike. A secure satellite communication system enables direct contact with the submarine commander. He is called to enter a state of strike readiness. The launch command, however, is not given via verbal communication - the submarine commander gets that order via special codes which change randomly. The code is sent, along with the preferred target. The initial target is a large military facility near Tehran. After several seconds, a long object emerges from the ocean, rises to a height of several hundred meters and begins its flight towards the Iranian coast. Iran's radar systems do not detect the missile as it makes its subsonic way towards the target.
This is one scenario, but there are many others that the new submarine will enable. The submarine could, for example, remain underwater for a prolonged period in the framework of electronic intelligence collection assignments. There are forms of intelligence collection that necessitate the presence of the receiving sensor as close as possible to the source of the transmission. Such a submarine is the instrument that allows for this capability. It can pick up anything that moves or transmits at a very large range, while creating a "jamming cloud" that deceives any detection system that the enemy operates, be it from a ship, air the ground. The purpose of this system is to prevent the submarine's detection, as it poses a danger given the vessel's relatively large hull and slow speed.
Once the submarine departs from the German shipyard in the city of Kiel, it will reach Haifa and will undergo modifications once all the ceremonies are over. Only then will the special systems developed in Israel - all of which are classified as "super secret" - be installed onboard it. These are systems that, according to experts, are found perhaps only in US nuclear submarines.
