Report: Israel carries out attack near Damascus, triggering Syrian air defenses

The Syrian army said on Sunday evening that an Israeli airstrike targeted parts of southern Damascus in escalating attacks that regional intelligence sources say target Iran-linked assets.


Since the outbreak of the Syrian civil war in 2011, Israel has routinely carried out raids in Syria, mostly targeting Iranian and Lebanese Hezbollah forces as well as government troops.

"At 10:16 this evening [15:16 EST] the Israeli enemy carried out an aerial attack from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan on some targets in the Damascus area," SANA reported a military source as saying.

"Our air defense confronted the missiles and downed most of them," the source added.

i had predicted back in 2005 when Iraq war was in full swing that , Israel will expand eventually into Syria and iraq. I still believe that it will happen, this is a precursor to invasion and expansion.
who wouldve thought that Israel one day will openly target any country in middle east and arab league will just let it happen.

It is almost 5 years since Israel targets so called "Iranian Assets" in Syria...you would have thought by now everything is done and destroyed ...So either Israel is so incompetent that can not do a proper job or the Iranians are just getting tired of making empty huts so the Jews can bomb them. There must be a hut production line set up specifically for the jews in Syria...I guess Israelis love of bombing Arab lands is an endless appetite...

Khomeini did not do a coup..he removed a puppet king by the most popular revolution since french/Russian revolution (good or bad I am not judging... people of Iran did the judging)..I was there to learn and experience something about history.

The only time iranians soldiers killed other muslims soldiers was during Iran _Iraq war.. and that was an act of self defence...bloody and futile but instigated by a man who was finally hanged in Baghdad by his own people (another history lesson).

"ZERO Iranian soldiers fought Israel".. this is a correct statement ...Iranian soldiers are not at your current colony borders. I hope your colonist population is smart enough to leave this region or dismantle the colony before Iranian soldiers force them to do that...Iranians have no historical animosity against your people.. you are just not in a place you should be... the land belongs to someone else.

Russians are effectively in control of Syrian airspace from the Khmeimim Air Base armed with S-400. Israelis must have some understanding with the Russians so that they can freely operate over the Syrian air space and not attacking each other. One could argue that Israelis launch these strikes without actually enter the Syrian airspace but then the Russians can still view the offensive postures within the range of their air defense radars. Russians are in Syria in order to protect Russian interests only and so are the Iranians. The question is if Iranians are capable of defending their interests in Syria as they often come under frequent deadly Israeli strikes.

During 1980 presidential elections Khomeinist candidate got only 10% of votes. Khomeni kicked the elected president. Since then Khomenist dont allow free elections anymore.
