'Israel sells Pakistan military equipment'

Thing is, and what people of such thinking fail to convey is, how does Pakistan stand to benefit from developing relations with Israel? A good reason for why Pakistan would want to let go of it's un-official claim of being the consortium of Islam and unwavering conscious / sub-conscious support from millions of Muslims worldwide, for Israel.

There was an article here a few days ago by the Jewish Political Studies Review on Pakistan and Israel. I don't know whether you people had the chance to read it, but it's here: Pakistan and Israel Moshe Yegar. The article goes to great lengths on discussing various instances that were tried for initiating some sort of relations with Pakistan by Israel, and Pakistan's apparent reasons for not engaging further.

Anyways, the benefits therein of having relations with Israel for Pakistan were perceived that Pakistan would be given a divine positive outlook amongst the western media outlet. On the contrary, for Israel having any type of realtionship with the so called Islamic Republic of Pakistan, wouldv'e been a milestone, roughly being equivalent to some type of a breakthrough for some reason.

There's a bit about Musharraf being treated as the guest of honor at the Americal Jewish Congress in New York at the time, which hints the significane that Israel places upon developing relations with Pakistan. I'm unaware of any Israeli being a guest of honor or invited on an equivalent stature at any Pakistani forum.

But then again, their desire makes sense. But Pakistan's reluctance does also. Obviously, before recognition of a separate independent Palestenian state with Jerusalem as it's capital, I suppose Pakistan's reluctance is in order.

The question as what Pakistan stands to acheive from having relations with Israel is very much 'liberal'. One can easily argue that reasons for not having relations with Israel for Pakistan are aplenty, ranging from region to religion, and have been discussed in great depth. So, I'd advise the 'liberal' lot of ours to read more and think more, before reasoning for relations of Pakistan with Israel. Unlike the usual idiotics played in our country, this one's pretty obvious.

And of course, we are not Japan/Germany nor Israel is US, there shouldn't be any confusion about this. This is a completely different ball-game.

There are numerous examples of cooperation between Mossad and ISI. Both the agencies were helping out each other during the Afghan war through Operation Cyclone and other perpheral areas.

As late as 2008/9, ISI had shared info. with Mossad on attack on israeli citizens in various parts of the world.

There have been contact thorugh the Turks on some technology sharing that covers F-16 parts, and direct contact and work in Pakistan on DU Shells. I will get back to you on definite time lines. But trust me it did happen - I can not quote the source for obviuos reasons. The 105 mm shells were developed with that sharing of info.

On the point that Israeli supplied technology helped kill our soldiers --well than Sweden should also put in that catagory since Bofors supplied the gun that created havoc but thne they sold to us the Ereye - which will protect our pilots. Where does it leave us now?

We are looking at things in a rather simplistic manner.

On the fuel bousers. There are only a handfull of companies producing internationally recognised fuel calliberating equipment out there. It is a niche market and a very specialised area. Specaially for a/c refueling where a pound or half wrongly callaberated can make the difference between loosing millions dollar worth of hardware and the pilot.

The leading Israeli manufacturer of tankers, aircraft refuelers, fire fighting trucks, armored vehicles and special purpose trailers, Hatehof Ltd., reportedly provides Pakistan's Air Force with military equipment under a clandestine contract.

Nearly a month ago, 11 aircraft refueling trucks departed Hatehof's plant in the Tzippori industrial zone in Galilee region, situated 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) northwest of Nazareth, for the Port of Ashdod, located about 40 kilometers (24 miles) south of Tel Aviv, in the dead of the night.

The trucks were later boarded on a cargo ship in the Ashdod Port and dispatched to Turkey from where they were transported to Pakistan, according to a recent report aired on Israel's Channel 2 television network.

The report comes as the Israeli firm has sent several convoys of aircraft refueling trucks to Pakistan in order to equip the Muslim states' Air Force.

Under an agreement reached between Hatehof Ltd. and BMC -- one of the largest commercial vehicle manufacturers in Turkey, truck chassis are sent to Israel to be converted into aircraft refueling trucks for Pakistan's Air Force.

PressTV - 'Israel selling Pakistan military equipment'

That is a pretty 'indirect' means of Israel 'providing military equipment to Pakistan' is it not?

It would appear from the article that Pakistan has a contract for aircraft refueling trucks with a Turkish firm, and the Turkish firm in turn sources some components for its products from Israel.

Big brouhaha over nothing is what it appears to be.

I give up. Go and make friends with Israelis.

his GF is from israel thats y he is so worried :P dont take it serious leave these on their , they cant handle two enemies now these stupid people are thinking to be friend with 3rd :P :P and called everyone extremist who are against their idea thats their way of thinking, i can only ldo laugh on these uneducated people :yahoo:

What is the big deal if they have sold them to us if things as such can give us both better relations then whats wrong with it . People start living on planet earth rather some where else.

Why go to Israel if it is to refuel F-16s? You could get them directly from US. :what:

First it's have relations with Israel. Next thing you know Mossad is running around the country causing havoc. Thanks but no thanks. As if Raymond Davis wasn't bad enough. I like our stance with Israel, which neither for, nor against. It keeps us out of a lot of trouble.

Pakistani businessmen do lot of trade with Israel though third port, example Dubai,Turkey etc etc..

We are always worried about Palestine, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Checheniya, Moros in Phillipines, .. the list goes on and on. The consortium of Islamic countries have not given us anything except for oil on deffered payment and payment to our soldiers for being statined on their soil.

We are treated like sh i t in their countries and our so called biggest enemy is crawling alover their kingdoms while we fret over their wellbeing. We host them on our soil and ruin our local economies and let them buy land and business and then kick our as ses when they get Uncle Sam to foot their bill.

It is time we think about Pakistan first andnothing but Pakistan.

What about Mossad sir.

What about it? When you have friends lik the Afghans, and neighbours like Iran (Not chirp out of this forum on the killing of Pakistani citizens by Iranina border guards miles inside Pakistan -- it seems killing of Pakistanis is ok as long as it not done by US) do you need more enemies to worry about?

Let us get our heads screwed in right and try to restrict our fights within the region. We do not need t ogo out of our way and cultivate more enemies.

Showing amazing naivety aren't we?
Fuel trucks are nothing.
We have been buying a lot more from Israel including Ring laser gyro's, flight computers, electronic spares and upgrade parts for F-16's.. etc etc.

There's no need to be naive. Israel has been caught spying on it's biggest ally which is the US. There is no reason for the Israelis to take this opportunity lightly.

Look, if Pakistan would have bought a, say computer system, radar, airplane engine control units, training jets......missiles...you know the kind of stuff that has electronics and programmable electronics in it.....i would be not so naive.

However, as the article says, it is refueling tankers. You know, those trucks that you see at any airport in Pakistan? Basically a reliable and strong frame with a tank mounted on it with a pump and all the safety features.

Now let's assume that Israel some how rigged them with spy chips or whatever.....the trucks fail to work in the combat scenario...you can always refuel from other trucks.......unless they start rigging them with bombs........but i am sure PAF can manage that.

This is real paranoia at its best. This nation is on a tail spin. We see enemies and conspiracies behind each shadow. Do they need to put bugs and kill switches (The RFP for "kill switch" type of technology was just launched recently in US -- RFP means Request For Propsal-- the technology is not even there or deployed operationally!!!!) on fuel trucks t olocate our airfields when one can just sit on the Google and locate airfields and the telltale "H's" outsdie of Razmak Cadet College!!!!

Where are we living? It seems a real live James Bond/Mission Impossible Flick!!!
