I know for a fact that the aid is used to bolster Abbas's security forces and to buy and reward people loyal to him and his regime. The US aid is used as a blackmail. As long as Abbas does what Israel and the US wants him to do, he will get paid. Nothing new here and hardly any surprise. What do you think the aid to egypt is for?

US aid is less than 1.5% of Israel's GNP.

Aid to Israel is less than 5% of total US aid. Furthmore all of this aid is military, thats means goes to American workers.

First of all, you take things out of context.
Both afghanistan and Iraq are postwar countries, meaning it is more than natural that they will recieve more aid a few years in order to rebuild them. "Israel" on the other hand is not a postwar country yet it has recieved more than $ 3 trillion of identifiable aid (we don't know how much is hidden and hence the exact number is most likely higher). Well it would matter to Israeli neighbors of course. Its only logical. Just imagine, Pakistan demanding and getting $20 Billion (except in Pakistan's case it would be more like $45Billion keeping the per capita aid in mind). Pakistan also has problems with almost all its neighbors except China. India's annual defense budget was around $39Billion if I'm not mistaken.

I'm not for or against US providing the aid and if its coming with a witdrawal to pre-1967 borders and East Jerusalem handover to Palestine that I am all for it and would even support further funding given that the withdrawal is implemented in 6 months to a year.

The impact in the neighborhood will be negative and there is good reason for that of course if try to understand the south Asian example above.
