It matters because religion is not like science / math where there is an absolute correct answer 2+2=4. In religious discipline any religion can be right or wrong as long there is somebody believing in it. If Muslims believe only their religion is right then people of other religion can also believe the same about their religion. Hence no religious person is right or every religious person is right.

They (Jewish Rabbis and King Herod) murdered the Prophets of God, Zakariyyah Alaihi Salam (Zachariah) and Yahya Alaihi Salam (John the Baptist). These heinous acts were overwhelmingly supported by the Jews. They (Jewish Rabbis) practiced Usury in the Temple, even though this was prohibited by God. And the list of their (Jews) wickedness goes on and on.

God had punished the Jews for their transgressions, the first time it was a Babylonian Army which came and destroyed the Temple and the Holy State of Israel. The Babylonian King - Nebuchadnezzar, ordered the capture of the Jewish Elites and had them brought to Babylon, where they languished in captivity. The second time was a Roman Army which destroyed the Temple and banished the Jews from the Holy Land. This is all documented in the Noble Qur'an, all Muslims who are true to their faith in Allah Subhanahu Wata'aalah, know this and it is ingrained in their hearts and minds.

Hence any claim to legitimacy by present day israel, is based on lies, deception and tracheary.
