No idea which drone it was, but these Patriot missiles are coming close to shelf life expiry, and we are not going to buy new ones, unless some current customers would like to sell their stocks cheap, which are also going to be somewhere near shelf life expiry.

I agree David's Sling will be overkill for drones. Iron Dome can do the job, or SPYDER can do it cheaper than David's Sling (if we ever buy SPYDER for our air defense).

why buy missiles nearing the end of their shelf life when your own are nearing the end too. i think a mixture of the spyder and some of the barak 8 series missiles would cover the short medium and some long range targets whilst the sling be used for high altitude targets

Patriots were designed to shoot down fighter jets, not tiny slow flying UAVs. When Syrian Su-24 briefly entered Israel airspace it was immediately shot down. Missiles are old and will expire soon anyway. Israel will replace them with David's Sling.

Israel already shot down Soviet fighters including their commander- a part of Operation Rimon 20, 16 Israeli jet fighters against 24 Soviet, 5 Soviet jets were shot down, killing 4 of the pilots, and 1 Israeli jet fighter was only damaged.
