I will just add a bit to the nanotech branch of technology. Nanotech isn't as far from real life as people may believe. It is a flourishing discipline that is closely related to electrical engineering and has many applications that are used by computer engineering (which itself is related to electrical engineering). For example, the current commercially available microprocessors uses fabrication process that is between 14 to 28 nanometer. We are expected to reach 10 nm by 2016. So nanotech isn't science fiction, it is already here.
