Islamophobia: A heavily pregnant Muslim woman was brutally attacked in Sydney

. .
I will tell you why i am defending Australia, its exactly the same reason when i defend Muslims for the action of a few d*ckheads. I have lived in Australia for almost 20 years. Yes there are some racist A*holes here but compared to other countries Australia is 100 times tolerant, especially when compared to Europe and the US.

I will tell you my personal experiences. I had a car accident in 2008 and with-in 15mins the police and ambos where there, they took care of me. I had to go to court after and lost my licence but that was fair coz i was being a hoon. Here are the pics of my car

We have used the Ambulance service 3 times, one time for me when i had the accident, once when my dad collapsed while walking back from the masjid ( a true blue Aussie guy was the one that had helped him and waited by his side till the Ambos came). 3rd time when my wife went into labour too early. Not once did they knock us back for being non-white or made us feel inferior. I work among white people and i can tell which ones are racist and most of them are the ones that moved here from Europe.

I have lived in Saudi till the age of 12, and i felt more racism there than i have faced in Australia. Heck i have faced more racism in Karachi than i have faced in Australia.
Sorry, Australia is more racist than 10 years ago. Your personal small experience does not change the fact, australia now is more radical than 10 years ago. Australia government is more extreme than 10 years ago.

Fraser Anning is a senator who entered parliament in 2017 on 19 votes, as replacement for another disqualified lawmaker. He lost affiliation with all parties last year, when he used the phrase "Final Solution" in parliament, while urging a ban on Muslim migration.

On Friday he put out this statement: "The real cause of bloodshed on New Zealand streets today is the immigration program that allowed Muslim fanatics to migrate to New Zealand in the first place".

The comments sparked immediate fury and condemnation from other lawmakers, who have vowed to formally censure him.

It also prompted overwhelming anger from the Australian public, with close to 1.4 million people signing an online petition demanding the senator resign for "supporting right-wing terrorism".

In the day that followed his statement, the debate grew more heated when a teenager smashed an egg on the senator's head at a televised press conference.

The senator lashed out in response, hitting the 17-year-old before his supporters - four adult men - violently tackled the boy to the ground and put him in a chokehold.

The images immediately went viral and "Egg Boy" was celebrated online as a hero, despite criticism from some circles for his actions.

When he was later identified as Melbourne schoolboy Will Connolly, his Instagram account gained 350,000 new followers. He also received more than A$70,000 (£37,000; $50,000) in crowdfunded donations, which he later pledged to the victims of the Christchurch shootings.

The public response was a clear sign of the swelling anger and shame among many Australians and the desire to throw support behind "Egg Boy''s" message.

Outcry, but not surprise
The senator's comments were an extreme example of hate speech but not entirely alien to Australian political debate, says Bilal Rauf from the Australian National Imams Council.

He says rhetoric targeting migrants and minority groups has become commonplace and this has emboldened political violence.

"In many ways, for the people who have borne the brunt of these words, the attack in Christchurch was not a surprise," he told the BBC.

"The situation has gotten so toxic, so fuelled by divisive things that the politicians and media commentators say, that it [an attack against Muslims] was only a matter of time."

so-called 'men'.

Very odd. Bosnian Muslims and Catholic Croatians were on the same side during the 90s Balkans conflict.
Nope. Only to fight against the Serbs. There was plenty of butchery of Muslims by Catholics in the former Yugoslavia

The issue is civilians donot have a right to violent settlement of any dispute under the modern Westphalian Nation State concept
I want to believe you're genuinely defending the victim of a heinous assault regardless of religious affiliations, however I'm confused by this: what "dispute" was being "settled" here, regardless of the legality of the means of settlement?

In the early stages of the Bosnian war they were on opposing sides i.e. the war was a three way fight. In fact one of Bosnias most famous icons dating back to the Ottoman peiord namely the Mostar Bridge was destroyed by the Croats, dividing the Muslim and Croat sections of the city.

It was primarily the diplomatic intervention of western powers/NATO that eventually brought these two to the same side, due to the Serbs close ties with Russia. It was and is a fragile alliance.

You cannot be unilaterally aggressive in a modern Westphalian Nation State. That is you cannot assault somebody who insulted your mother or your race. But you have the right to defend yourself within reason. Which means if you have successfully fought off a home invader and managed to knock him out..You are not allowed curb stomp his head till he gets brain damage or dies...then you would be charged..Once you have exercised violence within reason in order to defend yourself, you have to call the authority.....May be in some US states, you have the right to kill a home invader even after you have completely restrained him...but the law is open to wide interpretation here...But that is certainly not the case in Europe....Only the state has the absolute right regarding wielding of violence...But my comment didnot pertain to this particular assault of this Muslim lady.

For example states like Afghanistan, Albania and may be some Pashtun parts of Pakistan like erstwhile FATA, people have the right to exact revenge, which then deteriorates into century long blood feuds..Such actions have been completely wiped out by the heavy hand of the Law in Westphalian Nation States starting with states in Europe

If you are living in Australia, you or your family will be punished by some racist or religious fanatic soon, anyway. Your skin color is enough to get you and your family. Christian terrorism is in making in Australia.

lol mate you are so delusional. For the sake of man-kind, please do not breed.

Okay at one side you mention indian , srilankan and bengali etc have no chance and on the other hand you say presentation. Then you have an indian friend married to an Aussie girl of italian decent.

Sorry mate but when did i say that Indians/Sri Lankans/Bengalis have no chance?

And my Indian friend is married to an Aussie girl of Scottish decent. But it has nothing to do with him being Indian. He is a good guy with a good heart and is also a fun guy to be around with.

There is a saying here in Australia. Unless you are filthy rich or hung like a donkey, you ain't getting any super model. So i will give you an advise and this will work for you in every aspect of life. Present yourself well, learn to talk, improve your personality and you will succeed in whatever you desire.

Lol, So a guy sitting in China is going to tell me that Australia is more racist now than 10 yrs ago and my experiences in Australia mean nothing. You deserve a standing ovation.

Did you even read that article that you tried to reference? As for that guy he is not in government and for some fu*ked up reason he became a senator when he only got 19 votes. The boy that egged him is a teenager (means new generation) and he became a hero here, while that Senator got so much slack that he has said his career goodbye.

You are the one delusion. Australia is a real racist country. Fancy you selling your soul to these oppressor.

You wana talk about rasicm, release the uyghur people from the concentration camps and then talk about rasicm.

Typical tactics. A proven racist country and try divert the smearing to another country. The unighur in China lives better live than Muslim in Australia. While western countries like Australia will try a thousand methods to fabricate lies about China becos China is a threat to Australia domination in Asia region. There are hundreds or thousands of proven facts about Australia racist against non white and Muslims. From senators hate speech to police verbal insult. I do not need your fake view which attempt to whitewash the racism nature of Australia. I have plenty of friends study in Australia and bore the racist verbal assault from white Australian , calling them yellow period and asking them to stop lynching their country.

Muslim wearing hijab were called out by white australian witnessing by my friends of all kind of racist slur.

In China, Congress man or mayor making such speech will immediately remove and jailed. Hate speech do not equal freedom or right. But in Australia senator make hate speech will be removed the most and nothing more like jailed will happen to them. They don't even need to apologise. All these are hard facts.

. .
They are actually trying to leave.

Hey bro.. Can you list some of the negative experiences your friends went through... I am interested in knowing it because a friend of mine is going to move to australia recently..Perhaps your info might help him in making informed decisions....My friend is typical Pakistan who believes everything in the west is sunshine and rainbows.
