The rampant corruption and poverty which exists in Eastern Europe is visible to most people. If it wasn't for the EU, most of Eastern Europe would be worse off than it was under Communism. It's no wonder why many Romanians are running to places like the UK. Even Canada has strict visa regulations for Romanians for this same reason, despite them being in the EU.

Eastern Europeans didn't mass migrate to Western countries with their toddlers ,disregarding borders.They migrated after laws were set in place that regulated free travel within Europe and after the EU has accepted their membership.
