I'm seriously torn at the moment. I am dead-set against us joining another one of US' misadventures, I want to see bombing and action, but I want to see it done right, and I am sure that these bombs will have the same effect in Iraq as in Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003. The root cause won't be tackled and if the US gets it's way it will get worse in all likelihood.

However, with that said, knowing that revenge is being had for these people, and watching them do what they do, you can't help but hate them to their core and wish for their destruction.

I think foreign policy whenever emotions are higher than logical thinking, and hidden interests are involved, it will usually end bad.

The way to deal with ISIS is to isolate Iraq from Iranian, Saudi/GCC influence. Don't install but make way for a popular government who can serve both Sunni and Shia. Bring an immediate offer to reconcile Sunni tribes and factions on to the side of the government. Flood Iraq with real development, in the past military and security investments were flooded under the guise of investment. Disassociate the effort against ISIS with the US and it's past. Have Muslim nations themselves lead so this doesn't fell like another Gulf War 3.0. Bombing can then work, on it's own it won't fix a thing.

Yes I know. Things are already getting messed up. UK has a very tolerant and open minded society but having incident like this, it will have some serious consequences for Muslims society here.

No doubt, you speak the truth. We failed to integrate and left ourselves vulnerable, we have [plenty of idiots around and confused people. Our people are lazy and have a defeated mentality. All that was needed was a crusade by the US and allies, a bit of terrorist propaganda, and mugs like Anjem Choudary. That's all it took for terrorism to become a British issue.

The repose by the rest of us was sluggish, lazy and nonexistent in some respects. And what little response was had was completely ignored by the media. Terrorism is now a British home-grown issue. Parents need to be educated and empowered, their children need to be protected from thoughts and people that pray on the vulnerable. Extremists need to be stopped, their hate speech and promotion of such causes needs to be countered swiftly.

We are to blame for this, and we are also the main victims, directly of the effects of terrorism elsewhere and by backlash here.

However, I will say the few imams and people that have spoken out against ISIS did well, a fair amount of effort was made in ISIS, which was an encouraging sign. Meaning at least our clerics have come out of their political coma.

Well, I was in Manchester Central Mosque today for eid prayer and the Imam and the people were really sad and condemned this act openly. Same was the mood in Salford mosque as well, home town of Alan.

young people who have gone there to join the terrorists, their illusions would be short lived. Their love for the religious freedom would be met with a rude shock and in no time they would be missing the comfy life back in the UK. People high on first person shooting games or girls with disillusion with religious bigotry will cost them and their family along with the whole community a big deal. what most muslim societies need is a same kind of revolution that european countries went through . a Renaissance.separation of mosque and society. I have many muslim friends from my medical college days, while most are cool ppl , one is so intolerant that he even said other muslims classmates are performing shirk by helping us hindus in our festivals. then he got sidelined and was called bin laden in his own hostel. can you blame other than him.

He is illusioned by saudi ideology and even keeps a Burj al dubai picture in his room as if he is an arab. he even says shias are non muslim. this is a story a MBBS student in my state Odisha. This intolerant wahabi ideology is spreading bcoz of Zakir Naik ( half wit idiot) in india. He says Bush is a terrorist . when asked about laden he says how can he say as he has not met him. As if he met Bush. there are many fans of Zakir in India . he is a doctor too. I am still wondering about his IQ and his followers.
