No and yes. NO, because I am not against any religion. Yes, because Islam prescribes hating, maiming, killing, raping and forcing others to be converted. A person must like a religion to accept it. But, Muslims, throughout the history forced people to accept it, although it did not happen in Bengal and Hindustan, at least not in a large scale.
"And kill them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out."
This verse is about his conquest of Mecca. He is prescribing killing and forcing people out of their houses. Other Prophets like Jesus and even Buddha had different approach. They would have asked people to be forgiving and merciful to their enemies.
The ISIS, Taliban and all other Jihadi Muslims today follow the teachings contained in many pages of the old book. No other religionists can be made such an arrogant human-haters like the Muslims can be made so easily. This is why there are so many fanatics.
Your personal interpretation is meaningless.
It's war, simple.
Soldiers kill people. They are devil. And who said war has to be good? People die. It doesn't matter if it was tribal conflict 1,400 years ago or Americans carrying out long-range bombardments today.
And no, they didn't kill and persecute every single pagan in Mecca. Just their leaders who persecuted Mohammad and his tribe which is very clear with what you have quoted. It is about bringing the war to the enemy.
Talking of war from a purely civilian perspective is meaningless itself.
I am not a Islamophobic, but I make distinction between good and evil. I find some of the teachings very unacceptable to me. But, again I find many of the same verses may have been uttered multiple times to brainwash the would be killers. So, i do not want to accept these verses as to be any beneficial to the mankind.
Even if you reject one verse of the Koran, then you are not a Muslim. It is that simple. Every military today around the world has a doctrine. The ultimate goal being to kill stuff.
But hey, you don't like it, leave. Yes, it is that easy. Don't worry, I'll defend you against those idiots who think apostasy is equal to death.
That way everybody is happy. And all this whinny whiny violent behavior can end once and for all.
How do you know he is Eastwatch? Any proof?
I suspected that it is indeed him. He was the oldest living Bangladeshi here on PDF. And a deeply bigoted one at that.
The views presented by bluesky and Eastwatch are similar and both are old. Maybe he forgot his old password.
Hence, the suspicion.
But, why do you care Mr. Username named after a cheesy song? If memory serves, you weren't even around here when Mr. Eastwatch posted. Are you defending his rhetoric? His hypocrisy?
Just imagine, your valiant and personal efforts against JeI and religion based politics in Bangladesh all going up in vain when the "mainstream international media" still put Bangladesh and you under a negative spotlight just because of your faith. Even after all those years. These have long-term consequences for Bangladesh as a country and your future. And people like him aid that cause, that certain negativity. Criticism of Islam is a multi-billion dollar industry and will not spare any country that happens to be a Muslim-majority.
We maybe world's apart. But I strongly suggest you to understand what truly matters here, now and the future if you truly care for your country.
