Well said, but the truth is that the ISI has been tasked with just this as well as helping in toppling legitimate democratically elected governments in Pakistan.ISI should windup it's fatal external activities in other countries and concentrate on it's national obligations!
Remember, recently the Pakistan government wanted the ISI to be accountable to parliament and be placed under it, but the Pakistan Army flatly refused! This clearly shows who is in charge in Pakistan. The so called 'democratically elected' govt is just a sham. The real power lies with the Army and its adjunct, the ISI.
With security/defence and foreign affairs firmly in the hands of Pakistani generals, should we be surprised at the state which Pakistan is in today? Let's face it. Statecraft is NOT meant to be the prerogative of generals. It is best left to a democratically elected government where decisions are taken by parliament, not some fellow with shining brass badges on his shoulders and RayBan shades over his eyes, walking around with swagger, wielding a leather cane!
The uniformed brass must restrict themselves to the planning and brushing up the art of war in their ops rooms and not dabble in politics and statecraft. And that is the problem in Pakistan.
