Quite a few misconceptions floating around here.
Firstly all the military agencies in the world have been notorious about playing around with their own people in pursuit of 'greater national interests'. One stark example which pales every other agency in the world is of the CIA's plan of staging terrorist attacks on its on soil and waters, against its own citizens and vessels and pinning the blame on the Cubans so as to forge an excuse to do away with the Cubans and the menace they were causing them. Had it not been for the Cuban missile crisis the plan would have gone forward. Its all there in the declassified CIA reports. Read up. Im sure you can find many other examples too while your searching for it.
Second; The Pakistani media is run by a bunch of Orangutans who know nothing about journalism. Don't get me wrong the media world over is apt at presenting the mutilated remains of what might once have been the truth in hunt of the interests of the people who control them. What the Pakistani media is is a disgrace. Its completely disingenuous and artless, the neighborhood gossip aunty of sorts and nothing more. They would not know what is news if it smacked them up in their faces and crawled right up their nostrils. You'd be surprised to know how they gather their stories. One would be wise not to trust a word they say. Unless you think that the Veena Malik episode was an actual national crisis.
The ISI is like any other military intelligence agency. Its interests are predominantly tied with the interests of Pakistan but not necessarily with the interests of the citizens of Pakistan. It operates on a mechanical mode, so to speak. Sentiments for the people is not on its menu.
As for the 'phobia' so widely rampant in the world; ISI is the new boogie man. A cleaning cloth for any mess that the powerful may find themselves in. Its not a new concept. Before us it was the Taliban (reportedly not enemies anymore), before them Al-Qaida (unheard these days), before them the Arabs (now friends), before them the socialists (now forgotten), before them the communists (now partners), before them the Nazis (dont know where they went). The Hollywood movies of the corresponding eras will give you a good idea. Oh and Iran is coming very soon to your nearest theaters. Its interesting how the baton of evil has been passed around through the years. Convenient no?
And FYI the 'liberal fascists' are as retarded as all the other groups of imbeciles here in Pakistan. Its a fashion statement as are the tags of modernist, elitist, atheist, conservative, religiousist or traditionalist. I care not for the mullahs or the liberals. They are mere sheep of different color. Bring me the ones who can actually think for themselves. Keep the tags for yourself.
