ISI on board in peace process with India: Gilani

NEW DELHI - Former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Pakistan’s premier spy agency, is on board in peace process with India, and supports dialogue. “The days of fighting are over. The ISI and the army are part of the government and they are regularly consulted on the India-Pakistan dialogue. Everyone is on board, including the opposition,” Gilani said in an interview to Hindustan Times, published here on Wednesday.
Gilani, who was disqualified from the prime minister’s office for contempt of court, also praised the Indian prime minister’s role in improving bilateral ties. “Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is an honorable man and has the conviction to normalise ties. I took the initiative and met him and told him that poverty stricken nations like ours should focus on development and solve core issues. I also told him that if as neighbours we don’t talk, after the Mumbai attacks, then the terrorists will be the only beneficiary,” Gilani was quoted as saying by the Indian daily.

Indian army does not enjoy any power direct and indirect over Indian political class. As such it will not lose anything in peace with Pakistan.

Pakistan army enjoys extra constitutional powers in Pakistan because they are looked to as defenders from India. They will consequently lose clout if there is peace between India and Pakistan. You have your clear answers.

Good if true!

No one can gain its objective's by using proxy's against India, sooner it will be understood the better! Only solution of problem is via talks and compromise by both sides, terrorist attacks like 26/11 and parceling of terrorists into kashmir won't serve any solution and only worsen the situation and may lead to full-fledged war in future if repeated and traced back to its origin! So, its good that ISI/PA are on board this time, lets hope they are serious and not just waiting for 2014 Timeline.

Bullshit !! ... ISI is playing another game!! until THE PAK govt succeeds in complete military non intervention in domestic matters ,Complete removal of ISI involvement in domestic politics ,local media propaganda and as such...this is just another stunt by them

Either the Airbase attacks or increased activity by RAW after Mumbai attack is putting the ISI in back foot..............
All this peace overtures will turn table after a military coup or after bew government.....Let them show it in action by dismantling terrorist and training networks in Pakistan
