Gotta agree with you there. ISI lost all power with the establishment of a democratic govt. But we've seen ISI effectively take down democratic govt to establish a dictatorship. So though its no longer interfering in national politics, it doesn't imply that it can not, and it will not.
mere speculation on your part...no need for me to delve into substance-devoid hypotheticals
Correct. When international agencies were blaming Khan and ISI for proliferation, no one paid attention in Pak, and people thought so highly of him that they denied all of it. But ISI and Army both assisted Khan with the proliferation.
I was referring to his work leading up to the bomb.....not what happened subsequently. If you have proof that Army or ISI "both assisted Khan with the proliferation" then do kindly share it with the forum.
Otherwise, you are just engaging in the type of speculation and obcessions with ISI/Army you indians have become famous for
(much due credit to these institutions for keeping you people all jittery at night
)
He did serve Pakistan, but before serving Pak, he was also serving Netherlands, remember?
the unfavourable outcome of 1971 brought much anger to him; and he knew that he could help Pakistan restore its pride and gain leverage over its enemy to the east
He served the Netherlands of course; but ditched his job and brought technical know-how which was lacking in the country.....of course innovated along the way. The centrifuge designs he took by force were not identical to the final result (i.e. the centrifuge cascade currently up in place and running)
What he did there was he stole their technology, and brought it to Pak. A person who can do it once can and will do it again. He sold this tech to other countries as well.
non-issue......he apologized for his actions on live TV and has largely been forgiven by Pakistani peoples. Nobody even talks about it anymore in Pakistan.
Now there were personal gains, as well as national gains attached to these deals. Selling these plans to China and NK helped Pakistan get missile tech.
good......and now we have a solid missile program with much needed domestic know-how
I have no objections in this regard --maybe others will disagree completely. Ideally, cash is a better means for transaction. And supply of cash was no problem at all for KRL --as it was coming from Pakistan as well as from other 'friendly' sources (if i am not mistaken)
All Pakistani missiles are today based on Korean and Chinese missiles.
and over time we have gained the local know-how and can modify their range, payload capabilities or other attributes to suit our mood, tastes and preferences.....mission accomplished
But with all this he also wanted to become rich, of course he was no God, he had all the qualities of humans like greed etc, and remember he had already proved him disloyal to another country once
lets be clear on something here......he was Muslim and Pakistani first. You can call it whatever you damn well feel like. I don't know what the standard indian mentality is, but Pakistanis are very proud of their identity whether they are inside or outside of Pakistan....I think time outside of Pakistan, and the events unfolding, made him even more patriotic and desperate to make a name for himself for the betterment of his country
of course i will agree, money CAN be the conduit towards greed......(or is it the other way around?)
I was never surprised that he weighed his own benefits higher than national benefit.
send him a personal letter and a request to do a biograpy on him while you're at it
So I can't blame him alone, its the whole Army, ISI, Khan nexus that is to be blamed. Everyone is corrupt in power in Pak right now.
Pakistan became nuclear. Mission accomplished
by the way, you being an indian --you are in absolutely no moral or 'other' position to be commenting on corruption in our country or any other country for that matter
put bluntly.........hope you aren't offended
p.s. the centrifuge & other component design AQ Khan sold to Iranians was an out-dated one which had already been revamped and improved.....perhaps you didn't know that
