Niaz had graduated in mechanical engineering from MIET-Tiruchi after the polytechnic course and left for the Gulf to work for a software firm, before he returned to India to marry his French girlfriend and live near Paris. According to her, Niaz had been working for a firm in France for two years. "Would the French have given him a job if he was a terrorist?" she asked.
Tamil Nadu police continue to insist that they have neither received alerts nor information from the Centre on the case.
