The tragedy of what happened in Kasur yesterday has proved to be an eye opener for many. Sadly this is not the first of its kind, in Kasur alone there have been 11 other similar cases alone in 2017 and hundreds involving child abuse. This is an issue plagues the entire country, so then why have there been no steps to prevent such instances. There's a massive protest going on right now out for the murderers of little zainab. Everyone from the police up to the CM is being blamed for the incident (rightfully so). But the question is what have we as a society done to eliminate this plague ?

We are no stranger to child sexual abuse and condemn it yet we do nothing to prevent it in the first place. There have been several drives in the past to educate children about these inappropriate acts so they can at least report such incidents but all such drives have been shut down because it will supposedly make the children perverted (wtf). Appeals have been made to run notices or ads on TV to promote awareness against sexual abuse but those too have been denied because they're too "vulgar for TV". I remember there's was even this TV drama on HUM TV that tackled this issue and hundreds if complaints were made to PEMRA that the show should be taken down because it talks about an 'indecent' topic.

Unfortunate children who have to suffer this act are made to suffer in silence because " log kya kahain gay". Thousands of victims are even shamed as if they are the ones responsible for what happened to them.We are out there today to ask justice for the deceased but what about the justice for those who have yet to encounter this horrific act ?

some stats and figures there is epidemic in society .. in majority cases there are relatives involved

Everyone is partially responsible including parents. Parents should take care of their kids and always accompany them and keep a strict eye on kids and surroundings.

U r right.
Victims are often shamed for something they didnt even do.

Theres toooo many taboos in Pakistani society. My mom used to get soooo mad when a serial showed a pregnant woman's belly. And shutting educational campaigns is symbol of our national jahalat and narrow mindedness.

People who say everything is fine&dandy are utterly deluded. How can u improve something if u r not even willing to acknowledge the faults????

I tell you what the problem is.

Yeh dangaron kee society hay.

Many suffer from short memory syndrome. They look at roads and assume that government is doing its job. They tend to forget about reforms of state-based institutions and addressing the menace of corruption. So when the time comes, they come out in droves and vote for PML(N).

Pathan are much mature than average Punjabi. They understand the concept of change and reforms.

Ashamed to be a Punjabi today.

Had cheez main govt ko blame kardena is not the way to go. Ofcourse they're at fault but society also has some part to play in this.

Give them the confidence to report crimes. That should be first step. Societies should not look down upon the victims. Half of the battle is won then.

Next half is prevention. Too many crimes are covered up in subcontinent which gives the culprit more confidence.

I doubt if it has to do with society.

Psychopaths exist all around the world. Not too long ago, here in the United States a man raped his one year old child then murdered her and is on the run; this news did not even make headlines.

The fact that there is national outcry and widespread riots in our country due to this incident, shows that it is not as common as it is in other countries.

If there is something wrong with our society as said by many people in this thread, then there would not be no national outcry over the incident.

It must be people shun talking about it....acknowledge this reality.

Justice system is to be blamed , you cant remove crimes from any Society but you can control it by Punishing the culprits ..
