Is Singapore Air force most powerful Air force in the ASEAN Group?

its not the gun but the man behind the gun...Pakistanis shot down indian mig fighter jets with homemade(made in Pakistan) "anza" shoulder fired SAM's

Singapore buying these weapons is just paying ransom to Uncle Sam. No one will realistically attack Singapore and half its planes are in the US anyways.

General sir, Singapore needs advanced weapons to intimidate her neighbors to think twice before starting aggression and also to secure water supply

It's not very intimidating when half your planes are stored across the ocean due to space limitations.

Singapore is one of the biggest miltary spender in the world with respect to % of GDP up to 8%.It is a tiny country with almost no foe.It has huge air force for its area and 8 AWACS is just wastage of public money.

Strong military is the insurance to the survival of Singapore. Being a non-Malay majority nation in the Malay archipelago surrounded by Malaysia and Indonesia has Singapore opted for Israel style defence doctrine, even though the chances of a war is almost zero.

As far as we ASEANs are concern Singapore is the strongest and most professional armed forces in South East Asia.

One reason that they have many refueling planes and AWACs is because many of their aircrafts and tanks are based in other countries like USA, Australia, Taiwan, (and possibly Thailand), they will need these assets to support their flights back to Singapore, or and to strike the opponents from un-expected direction.

Overall, except a very few knowlegeable ones, I find the posters from South Asia very amusing. Majority of us Malaysians have relatives and friends in Singapore, we do not foresee war with each other.

Having said that, however, it is stupid not to have a strong miliary because that is the deterent to foreign intervention which may comes from out-side ASEAN.

Ha Ha
Its not like that, they don't have enough air space for training, so they use Kalaikundla airbase for training purpose. We ain't complaining as long as we're getting a deep insight of their F-16s. :agree:

They used to have issues with Malaysia but relations are better now.

They still don't trust the malays and indos.
They literally follow the adage 'talk softly, but keep a long stick'.
Singapore has the responsibility for keeping the malacca straights (from Admaman & nicobar islands to phillipines) safe, which is one of worlds busiest shipping lanes.

What is it with the "oh we can have a look at their F-16's"? Our eyes haven't been shut when looking at China's SU-30MKK's :cheesy:
