F-35 in Singapore Air force

In February 2003, Singapore joined the JSF program System Design & Development (SDD) Phase, as a Security Co-operation Participant (SCP).

The initial order will be 12 F-35 aircrafts; eventually as many as 50 aircrafts may be procured.

The Big News is:
Singapore Air force already has 8 AEW&C aircrafts.
Pakistan Air force will receive its first AEW&C aircraft this year.
Indian Air force has 1 AEW&C aircraft.

Singapore a small country with a Big Air power.

Singapore is India's friend we regularly have cooperation and exercise with them.

And the best part is they have given India access to their F-16 Block 52.

point being that as advanced as the Singapore Military is it has very little scope for defense in its own territory and a attack oriented doctrine of knocking out the enemy before it is over run is the only possible choice that Singapore has hence the excessive weaponry. But the point being that you have the very advanced planes and ships but if the home bases and ports the return to are destroyed there is no use for the advanced weaponry.
Singapore has two choices.
1)Dominate the neighborhood with military power.
2)Use diplomacy to split the neighborhood in such a way that an alliance of states against it is not possible.

This the exact reason why people consider Pakistan a threat with nukes with them...
here we are doing a simple air power analysis and the first statement from a Pakistani member is that whatever Singapore has it does not matter .. we have nukes and they are in our range !!!!!!

:hitwall::hitwall::hitwall::hitwall:

:coffee:

I second that, they talk about Nukes as if , Nukes is toys. Pathetic attitude and I have seen plenty.

For their size Singapore has quite a potent airforce ..
they can defence their airspace quite well i believe and with awacs to monitor that tiny space there will be no gaps.
Also introdection of F-35 .. will give quite a lot more bite

Room to maneuver and versatility to deploy is a major factor. How many bases can you have in one city? (which Singapore is actually). Airpower saves you only as long as you can provide it with safety. This same problem lies with Taiwan as well. China has their limited military setup under range and they can not do a single thing about it because they don't have enough land

and thats why they come each year to india...we host joint exercises with them each year imo...very good experience for both the forces ..they get the range we get the first hands on the toys which we dont have ..few pilots have become sort of experts on F-16...

I'm in no position to comment as I am not aware...thanks for sharing

only 24+62= 86 4th gen aircraft and they are big then India and Pakistan ??

We have Mkis, Mig 29 and many more to come
Pakistan have 18f16 blk 52, jf 17 and many more to come

Only stupids call Singapore Air force batter

Is India part of ASEAN? I think Singapore has the best and advanced airforce in ASEAN along with Malaysia.

As for airspace, Singapore uses an IAF base for joint exercises and training. Its the only country that has small military presence in India.

Because if the war comes into or over Singapore they have already lost. Singapore war doctrine calls for fighting outside the country over the oceans...which is why they have a lot of mid field refuelers and AWACS.

that means a simple missile strike is capable to finish of entire singapore......then they should have more and more sam's and abd's than having a huge number of AWACS

but the problem is how many....especially against a barrage of incoming missiles and its only missile to bet bullzeye and all samz or awacs will be gone in the wind...

The idea is to use the air force to prevent the missile strike in the first place...as I said before any fighting in or over Singapore means Singapore has already lost.

It is the same situation as Israel. Their defense means fighting outside their borders.

Whatever the inventory is , their combat record is close to null. Statistics are irrelevant in the military. Unlike corporate houses, Military is the only institution where BS is not tolerated and statistics is very much synonymous with BS. The only thing matters in a military situation is the "moment of truth."

One VERY IMPORTANT thing everyone is forgetting: Singapore is composed of over 90%+ Chinese people, so any attack on Singapore is a DIRECT ATTACK on Greater Chinese (2.0+ Billion people). You've got to be seriously suicidal to even carry out such an attack.

But question is, would mainland China intervene ? After all, if it enters a war it will have to face criticism, possible attacks on the mainland and economic sanctions, would China risk all that at this time when according to experts "China is flexing it's muscles, getting ready to become the super power" ?
Another question, how would China fight against the aggressor, should there be an attack on Singapore, would China opt for a Naval solution or would Air force be chosen ?
