LAHORE: The demand for an apology from Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan does not only matter for Senator Aitzaz Ahsan but for the whole of Pakistan People’s Party.

“If there is no apology… Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should come forward and take prompt action against Nisar otherwise the PPP will review its position on the current crisis,” PPP Secretary-General Sardar Latif Khosa told Dawn.

“As Chaudhry Nisar has already showed his intentions to further take on the PPP leader, the ball is in the prime minister’s court to initiate strict action against his interior minister,” he said.

Former president Asif Ali Zardari has also taken strong exception to Chaudhry Nisar’s diatribe against Aitzaz Ahsan and demanded an apology from him.

“The PPP under the leadership of Zardari will review its position if Nisar does not apologise. The PPP is in no mood to take Nisar’s statement lightly. It is not something related to an individual of the party. It is the matter of ego for the party,” Mr Khosa said.

Nisar on Thursday accused Aitzaz Ahsan of using the name of the late Benazir Bhutto for “business interests and personal gains” and being a facilitator of the biggest land mafia in the country (an obvious reference to a property tycoon who is close to top political leaders).

On Friday, Aitzaz gave a befitting reply to Nisar in parliament demanding that the premier get rid of “enemies” within his own camp. Nisar who could not get a chance to respond to Aitzaz’s speech announced holding a press conference on Saturday.

“Nisar should better apologise to Aitzaz at his press conference instead of further escalating the tension between the PML-N and the PPP,” Mr Khosa demanded. He said the PML-N government seemed to be in a hurry to do “hat-trick” and those close to Mr Sharif were causing his downfall.

“It is not only Nisar who is causing troubles for Mr Sharif. Other members of the prime minister’s team – Pervaiz Rashid, Saad Rafique, Khwaja Asif and Ahsan Iqbal – contributed a lot to the crisis the country is facing today,” he said.

Mr Khosa said the PML-N government was still not serious to stave off the crisis as it was using the platform of parliament for “anti-army” speeches. “If Nawaz does not take stock of the situation and rein in his team members, nobody can help him in a sticky situation,” he warned.

I think Ch. Nisar is a hot head; if NS could take all the criticism of JH in JH's last speech and still shook hands with JH then Ch. Nisar should have taken Aitzaz Ahsan's criticism in stride. PPP is, after all, in 'opposition', and has officially called the elections as 'rigged'.
However, I'd be very surprised if Zardari is going to let a small mob of thugs bring down the federal govt. It is almost impossible. PPP and JI are the two most mature political parties of Pakistan and they don't make their policies based upon personal grudges.

Those occupying the parliament are nothing but mob-of-thieves who are united by an unholy alliance, and would do every thing to maintain the status quoe. Anybody challenge them would be declared thug, terrorist, ghus-baithya (thief Nisar does not know this term was coined by Indians), anarchist and what not. We will see for how long the hegemony of this mob-of-thieves will continue.

Matured political parties wouldnt meant to let a federal govt get away the time its down?
its politics & its brutal all of these so called nice political parties has the history of revenge politics but this time they are doing it in a unspoken style.
ASIF ali zardari is not in islamabad just to be saving PMLn, but he is there with a wider plan to let nawaz sharif give into a all parties govt & that means end of PMLn , s alone rule.
I guss!

May be PPP is re-Iaunched by ISI cause since AH begains his dangerous onslaught on the senior minster all of the sudden all the criticism on militry is just vaporised.
So its PPP setting up, a new fire in the house?

Perhaps. However, any time those 'thieves' are no so 'thick' you supporters of the thuggery-aka-marches come salivating down to such threads and hope to salvage something. :)

As I said, I'd be very surprised if PPP is going to play a part in bringing down the govt especially in light of the diminishing fortunes of the marchers. PPP is simply not ready for re-elections and can't risk losing its Sindh govt. PPP, in fact, sat through much much worse after the 1990 elections--which, I said before, were THE most rigged elections in Pakistan's history. The current setup is essentially a walk in the park for PPP!

At any rate, NS enjoys a clear majority. Even with PPP going against it, there can't be a Martial Law--the 'Doctrine of Nesseciity' is dead. The courts are pro Nawaz, sadly. There is no more the dreaded 8th Amendment which would empower the President to dissolve the assemblies.

As I see it, based upon @Tameem post, Ch. Nisar has become an irritant in PMLN and so he could be made a scapegoat. I am not sure though. We shall see tomorrow.

Really? And is this why the Model Town FIR was not allowed to be lodged for 2 months? If this is not 'thickness' then what is?

Besides I don't have to do anything, the thieves are already pulling down pants of each other in the holy parliament and letting the spectators see the ugliness hidden behind those designer clothes. Instead of taking shots at me, why not asking Hashmi, Nisar, Aitezaz, and Khursheed why are they exposing the nakedness of each other to the world?

People need to understand this, PPP & PML-N are united, they are one. When PPP was in power PML-N were busy fooling the people & now it is the other way around, though the situation is different but the tactics are same, which is to fool the people.

PPPP & PMLN and are two faces of the same coin. They are just saving each other asses from NAB cases, Mehran bank scandal, Swiss scandal & others. Let leave others for a moment, Corruption of Nawaz sharif:

This is one of the main reasons of them coming back to politics both of them, if I and you were this much rich, would we ever come back here? No, but if our money was gotten by wrong means then? Yes, because then we have to come to save ourselves, if thugs from both of these parties aren't caught you will continue to see their family coming into politics as they need to save their $$

Sir ,
Just a week ago the nawaz sharif govt was looking in desperation to find a word of sympathy from anyone within the political circus of the pakistan, but with some support of the so called politicians or its backhand allies like mullana fazal & achkzai was never enough for its survival.
basic idea to bring the joint session of the parliment was floated by zardari, just to bring the last nail in the cofin.
look at PMLn, s situation now the most senior minster is angry not trusted , humiliated infront of whole parliment ?
what you think why uts been done ?
just because AITIZAZ AHSAN was angry?
no sir its a very well crafted strategy which will meant to abuse the PMLn in the parliment & show that even with thier majority they cant rule over pakistan.
next would be the idea of national govt , ASIF ZARDARI or even BILLAWAL bhutto on a key position if not , PPPP will go with marchers.
If PTI +PPP give up thier parlimentry seats nawaz sharif would be in super preasure to announce early elections or give up.
