Is Pakistan just an extension of North India?

Yah we can see that.. In sports, economy, soft power and every other sphere.. North Indians are better in every field. The stats only get close when we include rest of India.

North Indian supremacy movement...well that's a first. Hopefully that means North Indians will stop ripping off the Indus identity of Pakistan and be content with their own.

Indus valley sites are scattered all across north India too, juat because your nation state has to find a identity doesn't mean you claim everything as your own. Stop complaining after all its not us who consider Muhammad bin qasim as our ancestor.. Its not us who are suffering from Stockholm syndrome.

Can someone here tell me at least 5 things which distinguishes Pakistan from north India?
I feel if I visit Indian Punjab or jammu or haryana, I need not visit Pakistan... Instead it is worthwhile visiting eastern India or southern India as they are linguistically and culturally much different than north.

I have not been to Indian Punjab but I have had the opportunity of visiting Northern Indian cities of Panipat, Delhi & Agra as well as Madras /Chennai & Bombay /Mumbai of Southern India. I have also travelled widely across Pakistan.

I did not notice a significant difference between the food & culture of Panipat, Delhi & Agra and that of Lahore. It could be that so many migrants from Pakistani Punjab moved to Delhi and also many Indian Muslims from Haryana, Punjab & UP came to live in Lahore. However, Lahore is only one city of the Pakistani Punjab.

I would concede that language, food & culture of Lahore, Gujranwala, Sheikupura, Sialkot, Gujarat and Okara
and that of Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Ludhiana etc and of the population of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh & Delhi that speaks the standard Punjabi language (language of the Punjabi movies) is quite similar

Travelling west towards the districts of Sargodha, Khushab; one comes across Watwatti/Shahpuri dialect speakers which is distinct from the Majha language of Lahore.

Travelling North towards Jhelum, Gujjar Khan & Rawalpindi we meet Potohari speakers. Here you also notice the difference in the dress & culture in general.

Further north along the Indus you will find Hindko speakers where culture and the food are similar to the Pashtuns but the language spoken is easily closer to Punjabi.

Travelling south, once you cross the Sutlej and enter the Saraiki belt, you find a different culture and the food tastes slightly different. Saraiki belt includes Riasiti (dialect of Bahawalpur & Cholistan). Multani & Thali varieties of Saraiki are spoken in the region around Multan & towards the west around DG Khan.

The above was only about Punjab. Pakistan has three more provinces & the Northern areas.

Sind is an ancient land with her distinct dress, food, language & cultural heritage going back to the Mahabharata times. Sindhi Biryani and fish taste like heaven.

KPK with the Pashto & Hindko language speakers again has a rich literature, different dress & food. No bread tastes better than the Nan available at the KPK tandurs and their Chapli kebabs are worth dying for.

Baluchistan is a world on its own and includes the Brohi speakers; a language of the Dravidian family. There are places where I had to resort to the sign language to make myself understood. In Quetta, one comes across Persian/Hazargi speakers of the Hazara tribe who claim to be pure blooded Mongols. Here you have the delicious 'Sajji' a food unique to the Baluchis.

In the Northern areas, you meet Chitralis where some clans claim to be decedents of the Greek army of Alexander.

It is your privilege to decide whether to visit Pakistan or not. But Pakistan is not an extension of Northern India and any visitor will notice at least as much difference, if not more; between Delhi & Peshawar and between Delhi & Quetta as he would between Delhi & Cochin.

This entire forum come up with "we ruled you for 1000 years" when they have no fact to reply.. Every second ethnic group like awan, Arian, etc claims foreigner ancestory. Invaders are glorified, Desi surnames are have Turkish(arsalan) , Arab (Omar) , Persian (soheil) ,Afghan (saifullah) .
The national language is the mother tongue of a tiny 3-4℅ muhajir, national anthem is Farsi.. Even on social media most Pakistanis claim "we ruled you ", which is just claiming foreign ancestory.
And when confronted with the fact that Pakistani desis in 5000 years of history have been ruled by maurya, ashoka and different Indian empire and only Sikh empire was a empire based in Pakistan which ruled some part of north India.

Do you even see the irony of being the first one to mention our so called "Arab ancestry". You are clearly more obsessed/butthurt about Arabs or you wouldn't derail a topic that is clearly a sore point for the supreme north indian race.

There are no Indus valley sites in the Ganges region, which is the North India we are talking about. Indus identity belongs to the Indus region. An online tantrum is not going to change this. Neither is conflating Punjab region with North India.

Lol you do know that muslims ruled what is now considered India, right? Do you also know that those muslim rulers had armies that were a mix of central asians, persians and pukhtoon troops. So what do you think happened to them?

No it's not, other than IoK and Punjab; all of your states are quite different ethnically, culturally, linguistically (native languages), historically and so on.

And when confronted with the fact that Pakistani desis in 5000 years of history have been ruled by maurya, ashoka and different Indian empire and only Sikh empire was a empire based in Pakistan which ruled some part of north India.
Mauryan Empire enjoyed a loose century-old reign over the Indus before the people got rid themselves of that filth. Other than that, there has been no Indian power that has seriously held control of modern-day Pakistan.

Not North India but North West India (especially Punjab) and a large portion of them have their origins in Pakistan. They make up 3-5% of your population yet dominate your sports, entertainment and etc...

Exactly.. To be honest other than Indian punjabis, north Indians are the last one who wants to be associated with Pakistanis.. Its always the bengalis, south Indians who come up with "we are same people" on social media.. North Indians have superiority complex over Pakistanis.. Right from the dogras of Jammu to North Rajasthan.
That's pretty BS, almost all Punjabis i've met abroad associate more with Pakistan than they do with India. Sikhs especially talk about undivided Punjab.

.
We have some top peaks in the world and beautiful landscape at GB region. Lash green valleys in Azad Kashmir and KP. Food is exotic, tasty and perhaps if anyone other than Pakistanis will love our food, it will be Indians. Almost similar dishes but with Pakistani turkaas and spices.

We know the history, importance and heritage of our motherland very well and it seems that you know it too. But frankly I don't care about North Indians and the Ganges. That's your remit. It's a shame its neglected by modern Indians who care more about the Indus.

I am sure plenty of interesting events happened in the Ganges region too. Can you name five?

This is most indians thinks that pakistan is just like india or below India but once they step in Pakistan and see the living standard of pakistanis and freedom they dont want to go back.
Living standard .....wow.....Even BD has better GDP figures than PAk
Let me tell you matrices of living standard

Per Capita Electricity Consumption (Average Indian consumes 1.5 times that of Pakistani)
Per Capita Steel Consumption (Average Indian consumes 3 times of Pakistani)
Per Capita Cement Consumption (Indian figure is 1.5 times of Pakistan)
Per Capita Automobile purchase (India has 6.5 times population but purchases 10 times cars )
Percentage of people traveling by flight (or % who can afford air travel)
Penetration of 3G/4G
Penetration of smart Phone

Imo Pakistanis should not claim the Indus Valley Civilization. It will create a lot of confusion among the next generation.

Know your history, no problem. But there is no need to be proud of some periods.

Take the Germans for instance. They don't glorify the Nazi era. Similar Pakistan should not be proud of the period prior to Qasim. You have built a beautiful egalitarian culture free from caste and violence ever since. Be proud of that instead.

Believe me, the only confusion is how people from Ganges can pretend to be descendants of the Indus region.

Can't speak for them.
People migrate all the time.

Ideas are more important than ethnicities. Our bonds as Muslims should be stronger than temporary borders, skin colour, past civilizations etc.
