Is Iran's 'Bread' Subsidy Reform a Half-Baked Idea?

Increase the tax of luxury products and they'll have enough to wheat subsidies.

It's that or prepare to Iranian Spring.

Wheat price is increasing since months ago, and it'll last as the Ukrainian/Russia tensions will last, maybe years.

The problem is that Islamic state of Iran is calculating all thing for Iranians according of New Your and Washington ...

Most of their children are living in USA and Western countries anyway ...

It's not a kind gift to poor.

It's just the choice, use the money in feed them, or you will use the money in detentions, prisons, and jailing them.

The more fast the choice is made, the less damage will make.

Iranians have become too used to free things..... they get the cheapest petrol, gas, bread, electricity and water in the world..... and most of them are too porroo and very ungretful for all the things they have.

Iran uses more gas than all of the EU....This should tell you how wasteful the people are.

Iranians minimum wage is 200$ and average wage is 300$ at best ...

so shut up ///

Oh darn.... the genioues uses the classic argument of "so shut up"

Check mate....

Yes.... average wage is $300... so lets use as much gas, petrol and water as the entire EU... and yet Iranians pay almost no tax in comparison to the EU population. Moftkhor, ungreatful nation indeed.

Iran´s incomes are higher than all the regional countrie, except the Arabs of the southern Persian Gulf region, and yet everything is cheaper in Iran then the regional countries. If the people of Pakistan, Turkey, Iraq, Azarbademjoon can live with higher prices and lower wages, the Iranians will do just fine....

The best thing for Iran is to take the tough but necessary decision of taking away the subsidies.

Completely spoiled population indeed(Economically speaking)..Iranian governments have rewarded their population with subsidized "everything " to compensate for the lack of social freedoms...an exchange that no longer can be sustained...5 cents per liter of gas...30 cents Chelokabab...(I pay $2 dollars per liter and $ 20 dollars for a plate of chelokabob..lol)..

if you have one of the largest oil & gas reserves in the world and cant effectively export all of it
you can afford this muft khori - actually, you should do this muft khori to keep the populace happy, its essential,
God has blessed you with this resource, use it for your people

Or... stop funding terrorism in Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq and Syria

You are clearly a a paid agent of the Mollahs....trying to corrupt the minds of the youth in Iran with your truths....
You are only meant to talk about the avarage take home pay in Canada is $2000 and in Iran it is $300. Do not talk about how that buys you less goods in Canada than $300 buys you in Iran.

Or... stop funding terrorism in Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq and Syria
But then the big nosed terrorists will come and steal all your money.....

That spending is necessary to avoid a first strike of your warmongering country :enjoy:.

Security is the first priority of any state, without that there is no food neither anything else.

Without smart Iran security spending, they would be like Iraq or Libya today.

It's very remarkable how Iran has avoided a war in own soil in more than one decade of constant western and israeli war threats.

Thanks for bring it up it's very important issue.

There are things that I blame people for it(10-20% of blame share) and there are governments actions.look at cars where you can see what people want to do and what is result of governments decisions.

You may see same pattern in washing machines, freezers, water boilers efficiency and ....

There's already 5 killed due to protests by food price increasing in Iran, sad.

Iranian authorities are easy trigger when they kill non-Persian protesters.

The first fatality was reported on Friday. Omid Soltan, 21, was reportedly shot dead by security forces in the western city of Andimeshk.

food should be free everywhere.

free food doesnt make the people work less, nowadays there is a lot of motivations to work moreover than food.

And when people can't get food they become dangerous, and you will spend more money jailing them than feeding them.
