Is India really growing faster than China?

I have a question, why is rain so related to Indian economy?
I have never read an article that claims the floods and rain in the summer have a big impact on China's economy.

Today's Chinese have a lot to thank Mao Era, when more than 80,000 reservoirs and countless irrigation systems were built, a feat that can only occur in an organized society. Otherwise Chinese would have been just like Indians today, totally at the mercy of the mother nature.

Why is India so obsessive with China when there are so many other economies ahead of India.

It's fine to aim at a big target not the small rocks in front of you when you want to throw stones as far as possible. As a strategy, it's ok. Bro.

Maybe some members here just can't help speaking the target thing. They are too serious to start a rational conversation based on the reality.

Indians can't handle Chinese been advanced as in their caste system, their NE India orientalist are regarded as scheduled tribes. So Chinese to an extent are untouchables according to how Indians categorize people. So the Brahmins can't handle "untouchable" Chinese been more advance than themselves. It's a reality that overturn their caste system upside down.

Indians are obsessive with been a superpower. Just search India superpower and you will know what I mean.

The truth is there's a sort of complex in play. Think about this:

you have a twin sibling. Your twin is doing better than you in life. He owns big cars and lives the high life, yet you are struggling to survive, living day-to-day. Naturally, you will start to develop a complex because since both of you are twins, people will expect the both of you to possess the same capabilities in life.

So there's obviously something wrong with you if your twin is having success while u r not.

IMO, the system project a desperation from some certain groups of people. It's a history and reality.

We don't buy the system which the desperate people put them in a higher place. It's useless to us except the delusions in their mind. Furthermore, the fact is overwhelming.

For human development concern, I hope they abandon it.

Why the orientalists can be attracted maybe the good willingness or desperation for development who knows.

Maybe they are not twins at all. One believes the other is supposed to his twin and achieve the same accomplishment.

Impossible to abandon it in their real life.
It's like we abandon our Confucius thoughts.

Caste brings stability and kills social mobility. It's the best system for their vested interests.

The contradicting "superiority complex" and "inferiority complex" at work in their national psychic. India has yet to find a best formula for their nation building. The early stage of social development and advanced democratic governance just don't yield the best possible results. Short of a fundamental social structural reform, there will be no significant real social development, it doesn't matter if their GDP grows 5% or 10% a year.

They are not really closing the gap with China, instead, they are falling further behind, and yet both countries started out on somewhat equal footing. Some very smart scholars have already predicted the outcome of race between these two countries some 19-20 years ago.

Actually our Western part of China alone is a 2 trillion dollar economy with a faster growing speed at 8-10%.

Atually, this is exactly my point. India believes China is her equal. Nehru even unilaterally invented the phrase Hindi Chini Bhai Bhai(Indians and Chinese are brothers). In reality, they are not historically, economically, politically, culturally, and genetically(im glad i do not have ridiculously-bad body odour).

Past memories of colonialism atually drives a sharp dagger into the hearts of Indians today. Just go to any India-related forums and one can always see resentful comments about how the british looted everything from india. The caste system was atually amplified and put to effective use by the British to 'divide and rule' the Indians. It is easy to come to this conclusion if one were to research on this subject.

Japan is still third in GDP with world's highest value added output and highly skilled workforce. Since you said Japan collapse in 1990, why is India still lagging way behind in Japan in all HDI category , forget economics. You won't catch up with them not in our life time

That's a very poor argument. Even though Japan collapsed in 1990, India was an undeveloped country, not even a developing country. Now India is growing really fast. So if China collapses, then India will catch up.

Even China is far away from catching up with Japan, so what's with the kite flying?

That's not how it works. If China was in India's position, it would be the same as India even if China had 160000 reservoirs.

No matter how many reservoirs you have, you need water supply. In India's case water supply stops for years at a time, like this time it was only two years.

What we are working towards is desalination of sea water. That will change things if done in large quantities.

Caste brings stability and kills social mobility. It's the best system for their vested interests.

The entire world follows the caste system. They just don't talk about it.

(im glad i do not have ridiculously-bad body odour).

Nice hobby. You go around smelling Indians?

This is the most absurd thing anybody could have said on the issue. I knew you were idiotic when it comes to your bias against India but didn't know you were downright dumbo.

Though India is growing we are nowhere close to Chinese. Though we have a democracy, China has a nationalist government which can take tough decisions. India needs a govt like that. The biggest problem is social. Most of the people are more obsessed with religion and superstition. The country is so divided skin colour, religion, language, customs, ethnicity. The only way to unite the people is modern education. Only uniting factor in India is the English language. Unfortunately many children in rural India dont get access to good primary education. Education and healthcare is getting privatised. The Indian govt biggest failure has been the failure to provide education and health security to the poor. Yes India is growing but only the city and the upper class. The way things are going India has a long way to become a middle income economy. I don't want to compare India with China or any other country. I dream of the day when every India will have access to health, house, power and education. But one day we will be there. Maybe after 100 years. After 1000 years we have freedom. It's been only 70 years. We have a lot to learn from China. But India will surely eliminate poverty one day

We don't often to hear this kind of perspective from Indian members here. Just curious, how many your countrymen share you view?
