The law enforement agencies are conducting the drive following the information taken from the arrestees involved in Gulshan incident.
Tamim Chowdhury, the mastermind of Gulshan attack with alleged IS link, and two other suspected militants have been killed in a drive at a militants’ den in Paikpara area of Narayanganj town on Saturday morning.

Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit chief Monirul Islam confirmed the deaths to the Dhaka Tribune.

Law enforcement agencies have been conducting the drive since Saturday morning, said Narayanganj ASP Faruk Hossain.

A joint team of Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit, RAB and district police started the operation at the three-storied building at 9:36am on Saturday.

They cordoned off the building from early hours of Saturday, said Faruk Hossain.

The joint force and the militants are exchanging gunshots frequently, he added.

ASP Faruq also said the militants have burnt something inside the building.

The law enforcement agencies are conducting the drive following the information taken from the arrestees involved in Gulshan incident, said a police source seeking anonymity.

Watching this on TV atm...was waiting for the police to confirm via press briefing, which they have done now.

Police saying the photo they circulated to the media more than a month ago matches perfectly with one of the dead scumbags.

I wonder if someone tipped the cops off because of the reward on offer.

One more to go...Major Zia, kill him and this 'cell' of jihadi bastards will have been completely eliminated.

On a side note...they need to come up with better names for these ops - 'Hit Strong 27'

Bangladesh police stormed a militant hideout just outside Dhaka on Saturday, shooting dead three Islamist extremists, including the suspected mastermind of an attack on a cafe that killed 22 mostly foreign hostages last month.

“We can see three dead bodies here,” senior police officer Sanwar Hossain told AFP.

“Tamim Chowdhury is dead. He is the Gulshan attack mastermind and the leader of JMB (Jamayetul Mujahideen Bangladesh),” he said, referring to a Bangladeshi-Canadian citizen believed to be behind the attack on the cafe in Dhaka.

Police earlier staged an hour-long gun battle with extremists at Paikpara in Narayanganj, a city 25 kilometres (16 miles) south of Dhaka, Hossain said.

Bangladesh national police chief AKM Shahidul Hoque told AFP police were “99% sure” that Tamim Chowdhury was in the hideout when police launched the assault.

Chowdhury, who returned from Canada in 2013, has been leading the banned JMB, which police say carried out the cafe attack in which 18 foreigners were shot and hacked to death in the country’s worst terror attack.

Not to throw water on your happiness, but as the old saying goes - 'pics or it didnt happen'.

Staging stuffs up is a ploy of our police/RAB for ages. I personally smell bullshit written all over it - but I would love to be proved wrong any day of the week.
