Is an India-China arms race brewing?

Point is that china is incapable of even taking back Taiwan, and they were willing to wait a 100 years for hong kong till the british left them. Hundreds of billions of dollars to shoot a few monks in Tibet does not seem very smart.

The biggest industrial power in the world arms race with a third world country that has to import gun ammo?

More like "Is an india-China slapdown brewing?" The answer is "yes."

continue under-estimating your opponent .

history proves what happens to such people.

sure we want to bring Taiwan to us in harmony. The people of HK has amassed larger wealth than 1.2 billion poor but hard-bragging indians
it makes no sense for tens of thousands killed in kashmir, their people dec4ying to death can't beg a penny along the largest streets, kids born lighter than a rat ... still they claim they are the rising power and the biggest democracy. Go for it india!

Another blatant lie forcefed to the simple minded chinese population by their communist govt. They seem to be taught that the hong kong economy is larger than that of India.

Not underestimating, but it is a fact.

The total industrial output of China in 2011 was 3.4 trillion, which is twice as much as your GDP.

You simply can't match China's potential war machine.

It must be enormous reassuring to know that the economy of India is larger than that of Hong Kong :)

$ for $ we can't but we can make sure China can never attack India.

No, we won't attack you, but the fact remains here.

China's total steel production of 2011: 880 million tonnes
India's total steel production of 2011: 100 million tonnes
Difference: 8.8 times

compared to

US' total steel production of 1941: 60 million tonnes
Imperial Japan's steel production of 1941: 7.5 million tonnes
Difference: 8 times

Yes, India is indeed very strong compared to China. :agree:

How does that relate to defence? China's domestic demand for raw materials and oil is ahead of India.

There is nothing to brag about :"the top 10% of India’s population enjoys 31.1% of the country’s income, the lowest 10% suffers with merely 3.6%" and you still do not appear to understand one of the many dire problems of your country

And of course production of steel and the technologies behind it will have an impact on defense!

Im well aware of my countries problems but are u aware of yours? that is the question

India is doing exactly the same thing north korea is doing, starving their own people and building up a military dictatorship.

as if india were ever ahead of china in military capabilities. only in indian fantasy land maybe. india is atleast 20 years behind china militarily, its more like 30 years but im being nice to indians.india cant even make their own weapons, you cannot be a military power without a domestic arms industry.

thats the problem with indians, their bloated ego blinds them from their shortcomings, thats why they got brutally murderde in 1962. overestimating your own power can get you into big problems eg india in 1962.

imo india should feed its malnutritioned children than spending all your money on military.the indian people starve while the indian military regime spends all its money on importing weapons. india is doing exactly the same thing north korea is doing, starving their own people and building up a military dictatorship.

i really feel sad for those innocent indian children that want food and water and a good education.some goodinfrastructure like roads, schools, hospitals, etc will poor suffering children.yet the indian regime dont care about its own people, it wins the 'election' by vote rigging getting bought by the indian lobby in america.

normal indians suffer, they dont care about or have wet dreams about superpower or containing china, all they care about is a decent standard of living.to buy get food and clean water, a decent house insead of mud slums, a car, and have some extra money to go to the movies or buy some goods with disposable income.

i hope the poor indian people can get a better life, they dont want these chest thumping elites in india thinking they are a superpower.

One line answer,
You are a ignorant, India only spends 2.5% of GDP on defence.

Im well aware of my countries problems but are u aware of yours? that is the question

Chinese defense budget % of gdp is 0.5 of india's
Chinese % of babies born underweight 3
india's % of babies born underweight 28
(17 % Sri Lanka, 21 Nepal and 22 Bangladesh.)

We can manage our problems far far better than you.

The justice is way stronger than the evil as is always shown by the history.

Military spending between Indian and China (or America) is different. China and USA both has their own military industrial complex and research facility. So military spending goes toward creating manufacturing and research jobs.

Indian military spending are spent on imports, and the money goes toward creating jobs in Russia, France or Israel. And the money spent doesn't generate technologies that could be potentially used to improve the economy.

So in reality spending to GDP ratio is worse than they are advertised.
