There are many ways to get this troublesome province back to track other than military operation.

With a GDP 15 times bigger and ever expanding (two Taiwan per year), time is definitely on our side.

Yes, that would be the smart play... but tell that to Genghis Khan here.

The hope of a peaceful reunification is fading.

-. The vast majority of people in Taiwan have negative views of China.

By taking action to reunify, China immediately breaks through the first island chain with major strategic consequences:

- China gains the ability to project power to Diaoyu Islands, East China Sea and threaten US / Japanese bases in Okinawa

- China gains the ability to project power to the Philippines and also threaten Guam

- China gains Taiping Island, the biggest island in the South China Sea and the only one with fresh water

- China can access deep Pacific waters from naval bases on Taiwan's east coast, perfect for submarine warfare

In other words, reunification immediately gives China the ability to settle all of our maritime disputes by force and project power all over maritime Asia. This is absolutely vital today when the US has already declared cold war on us.

Peace across the Taiwan straits must be sacrificed. Taiwan has dragged its feet for too long. China's strategic imperatives dictate that we must take Taiwan!

Glad you are atleast honest that you will happily massacre your so called Taiwanese Bros and do another unprovocated Tiannaman Square.

Just a word of caution the last time you tried to take over the Taiwan Straits you were given a good spanking and this time too, I dont see why you will not suffer the same fate. Not to forget your economy will be in shambles. Better to bark and forget about the bite, it scares no one.

I respectfully disagree. DPP is now winning

Taiwan's presidential election: Tsai 4.5% ahead of Ma: Poll - Taiwan News Online

I really don't think the average "Taiwanese" is looking forward to a China-led 21st century. These fools should get their faces out of Uncle Sam's butt and look in the mirror. A significant minority is with us, but they are still in the minority.

In other parts of the world, where you have such a serious ideological divide, it leads to civil war and internal conflicts. I believe Beijing should support a "cultural revolution-like" purge of DPP supporters from positions of power in Taiwan. PLA can intervene in the civil war in the name of restoring order.

Kid gloves need to come off, folks. Reality bites, but we have to face it. No more self-delusions about peaceful rise. Even "Taiwanese" don't buy this.

We can make the most wanted for those Pan-Green leaders.

I am sure, for the sake of money, many people on the island will do this bidding for us.

Try look at this way. Even Taiwan under the greener Chen Shuibian administration, dares not to get "independent". This time the DPP's winning is just a perfect chance to get'em out of Mainland market and make their economy into crap pieces.

Taiwan is a island not a boat. It is still there no matter 100 years or 1000 years.

That's pure Ah-Q. If you are too cowardly to make a move now, what will change in 100 or even 1000 years?

Please keep self-delusion to a minimum. Don't embarass Chinese people as if we are indians.

You think they dare not declare independence? What are they afraid of? They can enjoy 1000 years of independence before you put your self-delusional plan to action.

LoL, you got the economics mixed up. Taiwan is already a Trillion USD economy.

no, no its not, not in nominal or ppp
Taiwan Economy 2011, CIA World Factbook

It does not need aid or arms and hence it does not need to suck up to China as you may be thinking as being obvious.

monetary aid not so much, arms absolutely, while separated it need external arms against the mainland, while united it needs arms against external threats such as the US and Japan

The only way for the unification is to give it time and give the people the time to make a choice and also assurance that the choice will be accepted by China peacefully. It is better to live with them as friendly neighbour rather than an unfriendly province.

not true, the point is taiwan is a part of china and always will be, as agreed by everyone, there is no choice unless that choice is unification or unification(otherwise the civil war is back on, not that it ever ended). however which government of china its under is the problem and this is what must be solved and judging by current events the mainland is getting stronger and stronger and at some point no external power can hope to interveen what ever the main chooses to do, it best to make a deal while you can still negotiate

Sub standard Kilo copy at the best! Please go and pay homage to the graves of PLA 4000 soldiers killed and 6000 captured in the Battle of Jinmen before dreaming to Invade Taiwan. Taiwan does not need to declare independance when it is already independant.

China has never won a war since 1900 hrs except probably 1962 and Battle of Tiannman Square since than.

Japan, Russia and Vietnam all have spanked you fair and square.

Regards

But sorry we won't follow you (暴虎冯河,死而不悔者,吾不与也). We have a more practical long-term plan and we will just stick to it. :bunny:

hehe, the US government and UN disagree with you :cheesy:
make whatever claim you like after a couple of stiff drinks, fate of the universe, you beat chuck norris, 11 girls wait outside of your bedroom blah blah, no one could care less. But Taiwan is still not independent.

Ha hahahah

Is this how you were brainwashed? Then explain to me why UK was bullied by Deng Xiaoping into handing over Hong Kong Island and Kowloon even though by treaty only New Territories had to be handed over?

The Communists’ position from 1949 on was that the British administration of Hong Kong was a legacy of history. It was not their doing but they accepted it. However, if the People’s Republic of China was to agree to the continuation of British rule beyond 1997, it would definitely be the responsibility of the Chinese Communist Party. Deng himself later explained that he could not become another Li Hongzhang, the Qing dynasty official who had signed the 1898 Convention that turned the New Territories over to Britain.

Because London pressed for an answer, Deng eventually decided he had no choice but to take back Hong Kong. Even so, he coupled that decision with his dream of reunification with Taiwan by applying his formula of “one country, two systems,” which had been devised with Taiwan in mind, to the British colony, hoping that it would be a model for the breakaway island.

A decision to take back Hong Kong in 1997 was formally made by the Politburo on December 26, 1981—a fact never before reported. So by the time Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher visited Beijing in 1982, China’s position was firm. Nothing that the Iron Lady did could change China’s mind. What remained for the British to do was to educate the Chinese on the details of how the colony was run. The culmination of this process was the Joint Declaration on the Question of Hong Kong signed by the two countries in 1984. In this document, China declared its intention to recover Hong Kong on July 1, 1997. Britain declared its willingness to restore the colony to China on that date.

Here is the spoils of PLA's armed force coercion, Hong Kong Island. Looks like UK got spanked pretty badly.

UN disagrees with me? Time for your medication. As regards invading Taiwan we will talk about it when the first PLA soldiers lands on Taiwan soil and watch him get his bottom nicely spanked and then runs home to mommy CCP like the last time when the PLA tried it. Taiwan is as independent as any country and CCP can do a flying FCVK about it. Burn burn Baby Burn.

After seeing your successful victory in Tiannman Sq we realised HK would be a cake walk for you so we walked away since our lease expired and to avoid you massacering a few million Chinese origin people BUT not before making you accept HK will have a separate system which you meekly had to accept.
