IRIAF | News and Discussions

FYI, the pilots who fly the Su-35 in the PLAAF had to learn Russian because Sukhoi was unable to modify the UI to display Chinese characters. They initially agreed to convert but found out the characters wouldn't properly fit the displays, then eventually gave up with the modifications so the pilots just learned to read Cyrillic as the simpler solution. I don't know if IRIAF put in a request to convert the displays into Farsi or not, or whether the Russian programming can accomodate it better than Chinese, but just be aware your pilots might need to learn some Russian as well.
It could just be a request for English, this is maybe the special characters other than Cyrillic/Latin that annoys the UI?

I said SU 35 will be most likely shown at April 18 as soon I read news about delivery "at begining of new Iranian year",you dont have to be genius to see that most important Army Day is best day to show new IRIAF aircrafts. But lets wait few more days to see...I may be wrong but it makes sense.

Iran probably ask they be converted into English's not Persian (if the deal actually happen) . even the equipment we ourself build use English words , and our pilots are proficient in English.
converting Cyrillic UI to English is probably a lot simpler

If you look closely at the video, this aircraft has the red star of the Russian military aviation, so it's better to wait for official news.

but then are we sure it's a SU-35 ?

I totally agree and since lacks the EW-jammer, it is IMO clearly not a Su-35, but a regular Su-27 (most likely an updated one)

I will say it looks a lot like the “decoy” we saw at that airbase recently.

What if it wasn’t a decoy at all, but a SU-27 that is being lent to Iran for testing purposes?

Wow so is it true Su-35 in Iran??

is this the first time since 1970s that Iran took delivery of a brand new advanced fighter jet?

very big news if true
