My opinion is that the gold could refer to ancient gold tablets.

Look at the raw destructive power of an asteriod that was 6 miles across.

Chicxulub wiped out dinosaurs and other creatures about 65 million years ago.

16 Psyche is 140 miles across. It will destroy planet Earth as we know it. This would be literally judgement day.

We think it's oil and wars fought over it. As there are hadith about wars being fought over it.

It could be much smaller, just small enough to throw the world back into the dark ages, but not big enough to completely destroy it. There could even be multiple of these small asteroids. Only Allah knows.
