Iraq F16 Blk 52's slightly inferior

The question is not strength, the question is will to fight. I dont think Saudi or UAE have will to fight.Relatives and friends of mine who are in Pakistan Army and on training assignments in both countries tell me what I have narrated.

Saudis buy expensive jets and then give maintenance contracts to Americans at exorbitant rates. This is how Saudi Air Force is. Israel knows this. That is why none of the Arab air forces are a threat to them.

KSA and GCC are not at war with Israel and vice versa. They are both US allies...belonging to the same camp globally.

KSA and the Arab world at large knows very well the moment US had to make a choice between them or Israel....it will be Israel without an iota of doubt. The entire might of USAF, USMC, and NATO would descend upon anyone who lays a finger on Israel.

The rulers of course have no will to fight Israel, it will be suicide...also considering the fact that almost the entire sunni muslim states are in US camp itself...dependent on them for so many things.

On Track: Middle East Propulsion Company Expands its Product Portfolio

Source: MTU Aero Engines GmbH Nov 15, 2013

Munich, Riyadh, November 15, 2013 – The leading Saudi Arabian engine maintenance company Middle East Propulsion Company has strengthened its position as a provider of military engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for the whole of the Middle East region. Today, barely four years later after MTU’s acquisition of a 19-percent share in 2009, MEPC’s product portfolio has been continuously extended. The Middle East Propulsion Company has expanded its module maintenance work by winning contracts for the RB199, the engine powering the RSAF Tornado fleet. Furthermore the MRO capability for the PT6 engine installed on the RSAF’s Pilatus PC-9 and PC-21 training aircraft has recently been established and the company is awaiting certification approval for maintenance work on the T56 engine that powers the RSAF fleet of C-130 Hercules. This approval is expected by the first quarter of 2014. As a result the company will be in a position to offer full overhaul services for two additional turboprop engines. In addition to this expansion, MEPC has been awarded with a follow-on contract of the Pratt & Whitney F100-PW220 engines for the Boeing F15 beginning November 2013. This contract was put on tender for the first time and was won by MEPC against strong international competition. The F15 has been the backbone of the company in past years.

“MEPC has a dedicated as well as well-qualified and certified workforce and a highly committed management team, the perfect basis for becoming the leading provider of military maintenance services across the whole of the Middle East,” says Klaus Guenther, Senior Vice President Defense Programs, MTU Aero Engines. “The acquisition of additional programs at MEPC in less than four years represents a tremendous achievement.”

MEPC has ambitious goals for the future and plans to add more programs to its existing portfolio. This includes obtaining a maintenance contract from Eurojet and its partners for the EJ200 engines installed on the RSAF Eurofighter Typhoon fleet. Saudi Arabia has ordered 72 Eurofighter Typhoons, 32 of which have already been delivered, and prospects are good for a follow-on order. MTU contributes the low-pressure and high-pressure compressors and the digital engine control unit (FADEC) to the EJ200 program. Other engines targeted include the General Electric F110-229 for the F15 Fighter, T700 for the UH-60 Black Hawk and AH-64 Apache helicopters operated by the RSAF, and the AGT1500 tank engine built by Honeywell.

Middle East Propulsion Company is based in Riyadh the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and is the major military engine MRO company in the Middle East. By the end of 2013, it will have a workforce of 89 employees and an annual sales volume of more than 60 million U.S. dollars. MEPC is a joint-venture.

I'm pretty much sure Baghdad can buy superior equipment from other sources. There is no need to rely on US equipment.
Russians would be willing to provide anything they need. Even the French could sell them the Rafale jet.

He thinks it's about 'gear'. Without balls, gear means NOTHING. Besides, there is no such thing as equipment superior to U.S. gear. After the AK and RPG it's ALL U.S.:usflag:

You got that bleepin right. hey @boomslang check out the video. This guy should get a medal for telling them the "WTF are you doing" to their faces.

Next to a few really wild porno videos', THAT was the greatest clip I think I've EVER seen !! And this bunch looks like John Wayne compared to the stuff we're working with in Afghanistan.:usflag:

I agree with you, however there are other possibilities available and the Iraqis know that. The Russians are more practical. You pay for and you get it. Plain and simple!

Besides, I don't think those guys are the 'brightest lights'. Maybe something more 'simple' would be better.

In terms of its front-line fighters, its chosen F-16IQ Block 52s show a pattern of slight downgrades from the more advanced F-16C/D Block 52 base systems. The official export request’s determined avoidance of sophisticated air to ground weapons like GPS-guided JDAMs, or advanced air-to-air missiles, also seems designed to assuage regional fears. The net effect seems cleverly calibrated to give Iraq an air defense force that can handle aging threats from Syria or Iran relatively well, and perform strike missions within Iraq, without being a serious threat to more advanced air forces in the region. Regional memories among its Arab neighbors, as well as Israeli concerns, make that a smart starting point. Upgrades can always take place later, and the F-16IQs have at least some of the equipment required to handle more advanced weapons
The New Iraqi Air Force: F-16IQ Block 52 Fighters

It is generally believed for a fact that almost all the Arab nations have got inferior and downgraded equipment at vastly expensive rates. Basically any severe threat a weapon system pose to Israel cannot be given a complete top grade weapon system.

F16 IQ 52s without giving the grade and no sophisticated air to ground weapons like GPS-guided JDAMs, or advanced air-to-air missiles is pretty much sitting ducks in front of Israeli, Iranian/Syrian Migs or Western Forces, sadly

Egypt's military could become something big if it manages to increase military budget. I don't like their leadership, however, I am a firm believer in having their military in a strong position. And political differences don't make other Egyptians want instability. Most Arabs know that the army is necessary, if only their leadership had better and bigger ambitions....

If Saudi Arabia continues to fund the army then they should take advantage of that and improve Air Force lethality along with Navy and last of all ground forces modernisation.

I'm going to address the bolded part. Right now, Saudi Arabia has better equipment, and aircrafts than Israel, and in large enough numbers to rival Israel. What KSA lacks is experience which Israel has in strides.

Which aircraft is better than what Israel has? Name one?

Also don't misinterpret the quantity of their equipment. It is divided between Saudi National Guard and Saudi Armed forces. Saudi National Guard takes the best equipment and ironically it's trained and meant to fight the Saudi Armed Forces in case they rebel against the House of Saud rather than an external enemy.
And at the same time their soldiers are selected from tribes close to the king, so making the quality of recruits inferior as they are not taken from a standardised recruitment process that covers the entire nation.

You can search KSAAF equipment yourself. I'm not going to do this for you. One hint though, outside of the US, KSA has the best fleet of f15s available, and have bought a large number of eurofighter typhoons meant for the air force, not national guard.
