You may also want to acquaint yourself with the relevant back story,ie the roks failure to pay the 6-9 billion dollar [$6-9,000,000,000.00] oil debt that it owes iran.
Also it was the british who kicked off the current round of "piracy" ie politically motivated ship seizures by seizing the iranian tanker Grace I waaay back in july 2019.

That is politics, territory dispute doesn't usually end up a conflict these days.
Most of them became endless quarrels.

Iran sold South Korea $7 billion dollars worth of oil. The South Koreans still owe Iran the funds and refuse to pay because of US pressure and Iran's ties to North Korea.

Yes using the banking system to send the funds to Iran is impossible because of the US, however there are other ways that South Korea could pay Iran back. Gold / cash / medicine / food. Iran has been extremely flexible and is willing to accept medicine rather than the funds, however at every turn the South Koreans have refused to cooperate.

In daily life, if you make a purchase and fail to pay for it, for example a house or car, it gets seized, the assets get seized. This is what has now happened to South Korea. Now they have no choice but to pay.

Realistically the South Koreans have send one destroyer into the region, some anti piracy ship, but compared to Iran's capabilities in the Persian Gulf that one ship is a joke. Iran has hundreds of anti ship missiles in underground sites, drones, airforce, etc. Really the South Koreans have no other choice but to pay.

Iran could have waited until Biden came to power and the US rejoined the Iran nuclear deal, however this was a show of force by Iran, showing its adversaries that no matter what, Iran will fight for its rights and will not be bullied by either the US or its vassals / proxies like South Korea.

THat 1 south korean warship was such a threat to Iran, Iranian navy and IRGC navy didnt even change their military posture in the Persian Gulf 1 bit...smh...that SK warship scared them so much they acted like nothing happened.

US will not help or support that SK warship in the Persian Gulf, screenshot this.
