ISA Chief: Iran to Develops Remote Sensing As Well As Communications Satellites

Mon Apr 02, 2018 3:55

TEHRAN (FNA)- Head of Iranian Space Agency (ISA) Morteza Barari announced that Iran has planned to develop remote sensing as well as communications satellites to serve Iranian people in their daily lives.

"Perhaps one of the most prominent aspects of space technology in people’s lives are the mobile smartphones that are equipped with satellite navigation systems which help people locate and navigate," Barrari said.

Barari, who is also Iran’s deputy ICT minister, reiterated that one of the services that the people of Iran today benefit from, but may not be aware of, is the communications satellites.

"Now, Iransat-21 telecommunications satellite provides a number of services to the people," he added.

Barrari went on to elaborate that the major part of the VSAT network in the country is operating on that satellite, meanwhile, Shetab banking system to handle ATM, POS and other card-based activities are conducted through that satellite as well.

“The oil platforms in the Persian Gulf are in contact with inside the country via that telecommunication satellite,” Barari said, adding, "There are of course other telecommunications satellites provided by the private sector serving the banks and the oil ministry."

The next step is Sepehr and Sarir that can put 1,000 kg satellites into 1,000km altitude orbits. By adding micro thrusters and several side boosters, the Sarir heavy launcher can put payloads into 36,000 km altitude orbits. It is expected to be build during the fifth development program of the country (2010-2015).

Possibly the Safir-3 with 4 strap-on boosters version Sarir (Safir-3C):

does anyone know what happened?, wasnt there news about multiple airspace closures and satelite/space launch registrations happening a while ago for preparation for Persian new year. Persian New year passed and no news of Launch happened. I was really exited or maybe I got everything wrong.

No money, no honey. Government is not willing to developing these technologies, that may bother kadkhoda.

Must wait for stronger people in government

I am worried for people whom were active in this field.

Me too, MEK terrorists terrorized Tehrani moghaddam, nuclear scientists and top military men. Just imagine that these scientists were looking for job after signing JCPOA. And UAEs thieves imported many of them. What should a Patriot dude do to people like Rouhani and his team?

As far as I'm aware the Mr. Tehrani-Moghadam martyred due to an accident not an act of terror.

If its true you expect to read about it in Farsnews .
by the way they were testing a new solid fuel rocket and that operation in itself is very risky specially for anybody who is new to this technology and compared to others we are newcomers in this field.

Exactly, Tehrani Moghadam was not over seeing anything that day. He just happened to be at the base that day. Thus it was sheer bad luck he was even martyered.

But yes solid rocket transfer is extremely risky business due to static electricity....just google Russian/US accidents (both private and military) that occurred with transfer of solid rockets.

You add that to the fact that Iran is a society that generally lacks proper safety precautions (just look at their driving) and you can see why something like this would happen.

Iran military learned a valuable lesson that day, unfortunately it came at a massive cost to the missile program. But if you research the Iranian missile program over the years you will see many scientists/engineers/soldiers killled in incidents.

North korea does not respect CHINA core interests,we care much more CHINA-PAKISTAN alliance than this little KIM!
Kim want to be self reliant, let us keep him that way where people eat dust and air!

Sure that all the readers should concur with your statement, as the DPRK's technological achievements are really amazing. North Korea is trully Asia.
North Korea makes us all proud to be Asians. Fingers crossed and God speed, here in China, none can wait until 2020, when the first North Korean astronaut would be launched into space aboard an indigeneously made launcher!
Here a brief sneak peek at the DPRK's outstanding past and future space milestones!
