Iranian Space program

IAnd they say Iran likes to boast too much about its military.

wrong . Iranophobia is one of main U.S policy in our region to make sure all other countries in region feel threaten and working against Iran .

why do you think we show case such things time to time and never mass prduceing them ??

Nice.....tank?

Another safir-1 launch ... Hopefully the last !

We need heavier satellites...

Simorgh was spose to be launched by the end of this year & now they wanna delay it for another year!!! Clearly changing the structure of Iran's Space Agency was clearly a massive politically motivated mistake!

Maskharasho dar ovordan haddeh aghal beyan 2 ta booster beh Safir ezafeh konan...........

Its no good having a heavier satellite if you dont have the heavier boosters to put it into orbit and using the old low powered rodong/shahab engines simply isnt going to achieve that, iran should be looking to acquire the dprks new 80t thrust engine block, ideally both iran and the dprk should design a common booster around this new engine, only then can you really consider designing satellites with the decent performance iran really needs.

2 engine cluster version of the Sejil-2 engine = Early models of the Minutman ICBM Iran can build something similar in a span of a year if it chose too what they do OR don't do at this point is politically motivated! Iran doesn't need North Korean Tech when it comes to missiles but we do need their Sub technology

Man, haven't heard anything about the Iranian space program in years, can you guys bring me into the loop?

That maybe true of missiles as iran does seem to have its present tactical and strategic needs met by the current medium range missiles in service, however when it comes to boosters/satellite launchers thats a very different story indeed and the rodong/shabab powered boosters like unha or simorgh simply just dont have the power to put anything other than very small satellites into orbit,so if iran ever wants to put up credible comsats/reconsats in the mid to high hundreds of kgs range then it needs those dprk engines for its next generation booster, the only other alternative is to rely on unreliable countries like russia or china to launch your sats for you which frankly seems like a very risky thing to do considering their past histories of tearing up deals.

Iran currently wont even test the Simorgh publicly do you think if they had built an engine more powerful they would show it???
Plus, it's one thing to build an engine and another to build a platform..... And they would still need additional booster or a cluster version to put a multi ton sat in GTO for Communication Satellite

If we were going to buy the engines from someone else we might as well let someone else launch it for us!!!!

I would rather see Iran stick with domestic tech! If Simorgh becomes a success add 2-4 external booster to the sides.....

Simorgh engine was unveiled over 4 years ago & I don't think the guys who worked on it are just sitting idly by.... I'm sure they got guys working on larger solid fuel & liquid fuel engines!

Iran’s minister of information and communications technology says the country plans to send a new domestically-manufactured satellite into space by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (ending on March 20, 2017).

Mahmoud Vaezi said on Wednesday that the probe called Sharif Sat would be put into orbit by the end of the year, adding that Iran planned to send two more satellites into space by the end of the next Iranian calendar year (which ends on March 20, 2018).

The three satellites have been manufactured by young Iranian experts in research centers at the country’s universities, the minister said.

He also said that Iran was about to sign a contract with a Russian company on the manufacture of a remote-sensing satellite.

“The contract is in final stages. The letter of credit to finance the contract has also been finalized and the work will begin within the next two or three weeks,” Vaezi said.

The minister also said that Iran had embarked on manufacturing a telecommunications satellite, and that the country was in talks with a number of foreign countries on the project. He said that further details would be announced in the near future.

Iran launched its first locally-built satellite, Omid (Hope), in 2009. The country also sent its first bio-capsule containing living creatures into space in February 2010, using Kavoshgar-3 (Explorer-3) carrier.

Iran also placed the domestically-made Fajr (Dawn) satellite into orbit in February 2015. The satellite is capable of taking and transmitting high-quality and accurate pictures to stations on earth.
