Iranian President Selling His 1977 Peugeot 504

Heres something you dont see every day. The president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is selling his 1977 Peugeot 504 to help raise funds for charity.

The car is being sold in an international auction and all funds will go to help the Mehr housing project, a charitable organization that provides housing for low-income families.

The sale is fitting as Ahmadinejad is widely recognized in Iran as the "people's president" and friend of the common man. Not surprisingly, listed as assets in his possession, Ahmadinejad only has a 40-year-old 1,900 square-foot house in a lower-middle class part of east Tehran, the Iranian capital, two cheque accounts and the old Peugeot sedan.

Though a 1977 Peugeot 504 itself is hardly what youd call a collectors item, this particular example would certainly have value, even if only as a talking piece

Apart from the fact that this car belongs to Ahmadinejad; the Peugeot 504 is/was an exceedingly robust car and in its time was an extremely good value-for-money car. At least for that point alone, Ahmadinejad should be appreciated.

selling his own car for charity, the man is a saint.

I wish we had a leader like him, no more Zor dari plz...:argh:

. .
wow salute to Ahmedinijad ... why this fact is not mentioned by mullahs .

.
The better question would be why would we not take all these politicians and hang them by the lampposts rather than innocent poor people. Whole *** load of people going on a rally to make sure some poor person dies from lahore to islamabad. They can not make a stop over to use their crazy ignorance to do the world a favour??

. .
^^Pointless!?!

We see our ministers donating millions in charity because they can afford it when in reality it is not possible for a mere government official to donate such generously. And see here...Ahmadinijad is selling his car to make some money for charity. Difference is clearly visible.

Indeed this is very great of him as a leader of Iran, while his undiplomatic talks do unnerve every body seems he is really a true humanitarian and person with ideals. Iran is blessed to have one such person as its President. A honest and hardworking leader!!! uncommon in this world.

.
wow you guys are so naive!!!!
If you look at the UN figures, corruption during Nejad's presidency has been the worst since the Iranian revolution. Iran dropped more than 40 places in just a few years.

This is ALL A SHOW!!!
The Iranian regime has the IRanian people by the balls but they can't pull the same **** off with people around the region so they try to get sympathizers.
Going to hadj in the back of a pick up in KSA.
Selling his ancient car in an international auction.
Saying that he only has a tiny house
etc...

for gods sake, Iranian mullahs all have BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN PERSONAL ASSETS

This is from 2003
"A looming nuclear threat to the rest of the world, Iran is robbing its own people of prosperity. But the men at the top are getting extremely rich."

"The 1979 revolution transformed the Rafsanjani clan into commercial pashas. One brother headed the country's largest copper mine; another took control of the state-owned TV network; a brother-in-law became governor of Kerman province, while a cousin runs an outfit that dominates Iran's $400 million pistachio export business; a nephew and one of Rafsanjani's sons took key positions in the Ministry of Oil; another son heads the Tehran Metro construction project (an estimated $700 million spent so far). Today, operating through various foundations and front companies, the family is also believed to control one of Iran's biggest oil engineering companies, a plant assembling Daewoo automobiles, and Iran's best private airline (though the Rafsanjanis insist they do not own these assets). "
